Patek Philippe

don't be...think positive and enjoy your gorgeous watch

I think that there are two categories of Patek buyers: these that don't care at all about the price (and many are in this category) and others that want to get the best deal/price.  I am not in the first category but, realistically, some of the patek watches are so difficult to get that when and if your AD gets your pre-reserved piece you almost forget about the "best deal" idea smile

Unlike Hermes or Louis Vuitton (that don't make any discount ever) with luxury watches you can still work with your AD and build up some relationship.

Back to your issue: I don't know if the 5940G is a difficult model to get but on the 5711 the difference of pricing is just theoretical as the availability is very low. I completely feel your pain and I don't intend to dismiss your disappointment. I am just trying to think positive.

The market price is dictated by the local Swiss prices and the value of CHF converted in other currencies.

My advice is to enjoy the watch and forget the price. At this level is very difficult to talk about value and investment. I personally believe that watches are not a good financial investment. Just an emotional one as you can get a big return in that department.

Now there is also an opportunity window: if there is another watch you like you can buy at a lower price (and perhaps even get something extra if you have a good relationship with the AD) and work out a good average smile

Since the CHF exchange issue I bought two watches (not Patek)  that I wanted to get since a long time at very good conditions. This would have not been possible a few months ago.
