WoW Imran what a great post

And how incredible to have found and been able to meet such a collector. A collector like this is as rare as his watches these days. What a find well done.
For me the the history and evolution of the 5196 is why I love it so much but it also just so happens to be stunning aesthetically. For me since I was 8 years old watches have always been about the dial. The detail in the dial as you correctly say makes all the difference to a collector.
I have some serious concerns about the direction Patek are heading and the recent release of a further 2 Salmon dials as part of the “normal run” of models is a real concern for their mind set. On one hand it makes Salmon dial watches more available for more people which can only be a good thing but at the same time it has for me at least cheapened the brand slightly. I can’t help but think that they have done this on models which lets just say were not the most popular before doing this giving certain models a boost so to speak. The 5270p was the classic example of this. Your barn find of a 5196 and other very limited Salmon dial is where they should have left it but This is probably a whole new discussion topic.
Again Imran thank you for a great post and I do miss your posts so please keep them coming.
As it’s on topic I will post this picture.
M.

Million Dollar dial: A special Easter egg at the end.

What’s in a dial? Everything. You can have a poor movement or the very best, and elegant case, rarity of metal, but ultimately “she” has to look beautiful- at least in your eyes. The dial is possibly, no it is, the most important part in the desirability ...

Wow! Just wow!

Interesting there was a ref with the applied numerals, number 7, overriding into the seconds dial. The salmon dial is pure delight. Thanks for sharing. -kevin

The first picture really caught my eye, but dear me you really topped it with the unique 5196P with salmon dial! I am a sucker for those numerals, dial, and hands. Incredible.

Exactly my thoughts.
