See it, see the discussion like this:Imagine you enter a cocktail party with a twin swan under your arm. Do you know whether there a swan lovers in the room? Or people with Anatidaephobia? I think everyone should decide for him or herself whether the duckling or the swan is ugly or prized. Pre-set opinions can only help the watch lover who has his own opinons and should not be intimitated or barely influenced by others. If a subjective view of an objective opinon is seen as a fact, the opinion's subjectivity will be highly marginalized. IF NOT MISTAKEN FOR CRITIZISM!

Everyones taste is highly subjective and objective opinons on taste should not be uttered in a objeticve-subjective way, because we dont know the intention of the watch's owner or maker, nor do we know what the designer had in mind when he - or she! - designed the watch, maybe with the intention to provoke, maybe with the intention to soothe. Even both at the same time. And that does not include the third Dimension.

In the Patek game! Patek 5296G-001

 By: Francoamerican : June 2nd, 2018-17:11
Thanks for all the great info over the years - I wanted a watch I could wear a lot - and I honestly like a more trad watch than the nautilus or aquanaut. So I took something dressier and put a casual strap on it and got it in white gold. Can wear with a t...

Looks awesome.

I love how the strap contrasts with the case. Looks great.

You did the right thing. Im happy for you.

Best wishes , what is important is flexibilty. And the 5296g sectoral dial is very versatile. Geross.

I think it looks great. As you are a 10 year member tell us a little about the journey.

The combination of your Patek on a vintage style leather strap is genius. I like it very much. Bravo Bill

AWESOME piece

And a very smart choice for what you have in mind.

It works. [nt]

Firstly congratulations ā€¦

It will always be a great watch in your collection. Personally I think that you could try something more adventurous when it comes to the strap, dark blue always works well. Whatever you choose keep enjoying it !

It takes too much from the elegance of it

By: COUNT DE MONET : June 3rd, 2018-05:03
To me it is becomming a clearly Bauhaus design watch, which is not a design I like. I love the dynamic elegance of this G model, with ist cool blue strap. So my personal verdict is: no, it does not work.

People asking for the opinion of a forum

 By: ingo5711 : June 3rd, 2018-05:19
but not necessarily subjective, they want the objective way too, as Cpt Scarlet said, because the point is to be able to choose well in the end. Just giving a very partial opinion as if it was a standard truth is misleading. For instance saying that someo...

Why are you asking for other's opinion at all? [nt]

No message body

It depends

 By: ingo5711 : June 3rd, 2018-07:17
It depends on what the aim is, what weight we put for comfort, price, finishing, waterproof, price, looks, elegance, sportiness etc... If you buy someone else's grail, you may not like it and if you finally end buying nothing you may not be enjoying somet...

I have a great deal or sympathy for the point you are trying to make. There can be a tendency for people to transpose their own taste onto others. Similarly, one can see situations where what is deemed "correct", "tastful", "relevant" etc etc etc is seen ...

Opinion was strong, not the words

By: COUNT DE MONET : June 3rd, 2018-08:47
So much to language issues (Good point from you).

Do you not think people are intelligent enough to understand what another personā€™s opinion is? I certainly do.

 By: BMR : June 3rd, 2018-08:31
If Iā€™m convicted enough about a watch, Iā€™m going to acquire it no matter what anyone elseā€™s opinion is. If other peopleā€™s opinions give me enough pause to not buy the watch then I donā€™t think thatā€™s a bad thing. Perhaps I was getting ahead of myself and s...

In my opinion it was not an even an "infiltered feedback"

By: COUNT DE MONET : June 3rd, 2018-08:46
I did not use any strong expressions, rude or what so ever words. My opinion might be strong, yes, but in no way disrespectful.

I agree. [nt]

 By: BMR : June 3rd, 2018-08:53

And I agree about your point regarding the values of this forum

By: COUNT DE MONET : June 3rd, 2018-08:57
It is actually written in steel, on a rotor of a watch I happen to own: passion, opinion, information ...

It gets into grey territory.....

 By: Baron - Mr Red : June 3rd, 2018-09:18
.....when opinion is unfettered. Also part of the forum rules is that one should addess others as if meeting them for the first time at a cocktail party. If i was to meet someone at a cocktail party and saw their watch was a 52mm bronze jewelled diver, my...

I agree that respect and decorum should be mandatory.

 By: BMR : June 3rd, 2018-10:27
I think Iā€™m coming from a place in which I assume thatā€™s given. Thatā€™s, perhaps, an error on my part, but I bet many would agree that respect and decorum should absolutely be a part of sharing oneā€™s opinion. Thatā€™s one thing. Asking people to basically no...

Congrats on getting this 5296 with its wonderful ā€œtracksā€ !

It would be more impactful to see wrist shots with different clothings to get a better sense of how this casual strap fit or not.

Thanks all for the kind words!

 By: Francoamerican : June 3rd, 2018-17:53
Iā€™ll tell the whole watch journey story later! I wasnā€™t really looking for hard validation or anything - itā€™s a specific vision I had and itā€™s exceeded my expectations! thanks again!

I have the same watch

 By: rcg412 : June 4th, 2018-17:56
I wear it with a blue matte strap. Looks great and works casually. Not a big fan of your strap choice, try it with dark blue matte. Itā€™s casual enough. My .02

good idea! [nt]

Put my 5296g-001 on a camille fournet black matte

It's been nearly a year. Wear this almost every day. ...

Congratulations [nt]
