Hi, keks, I wouldnt wear a watch with the wrong time (well, I would and have but rarely) why would I wear a calendar watch with wrong day date month? Hmmm...thanks.

Well nobody else knows....

 By: keks : May 18th, 2018-14:56
... like wearing dirty underwear... but I suffer from ocd

Lol i can assure you...

 By: ThomasM : May 18th, 2018-14:59
I try very hard not to wear dirty underwear...πŸ€£πŸ˜‚ And yes, I am OCD in other areas...which makes me wonder why wrong month date dont bother me more...

I do! [nt]

Seems most agree with you

Absolutely, everything set .correct.

Speaking of underwear, being caught with your perpetual, annual or even simple date incorrect is like being caught with your pants down. Actually, I think the level of embarrassment should increase in line with complication; date - pants down, annual cale...

Lol!

πŸ˜‚πŸ€£

Can't disagree...

 By: ThomasM : May 18th, 2018-17:52
Even the year indicator, otherwise why a perpetual?

Correct day date month are mandatory, even the moon phase MUST be correct otherwise I just don't feel well

 By: Mike H : May 18th, 2018-15:53
Sometimes I don't have the time to adjust everything so I simply take another watch that day it is as simple as that Your 5050 is a beauty btw Mike

Now THAT is an idea...

 By: ThomasM : May 18th, 2018-17:53
Just wear a time only! Thank you...

+1, I was going to say exactly the same 😊

 By: 1WatchMan : May 18th, 2018-23:22
If I don't have time to set everything, I just continue using the same watch I was wearing.

I would never let a perpetual go more than a day or so not running.

 By: TheMadDruid : May 18th, 2018-16:14
Perpetuals can be very wearing on the soul and fingers.

Yeah but that requires so many winders...

 By: ThomasM : May 18th, 2018-17:54
Or wives / children to wear them all and keep them running... πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‚

Sounds like you need a concubine or 5.

 By: TheMadDruid : May 19th, 2018-04:44
If you only have one perpetual this is not an overwhelming job. It just becomes soul-sapping about 6 months into possession when you remembered you've worn your Dufour, or Smith, or Journe for two weeks now and the perpetual needs a whole lotta adjusting....

Nope...too OCD...all would not be right with the universe until fixed.

 By: vitalsigns : May 18th, 2018-16:16
One reason I loathe non-quickset dates (especially in modern movements...do you hear me Omega?!!?).

Lol I feel ya... [nt]

... even when I do set the perpetual calendar, I can't read the sub-dials, anyway. On all the watches I have, I can read the time and, on the ones with big dates or a cyclops, the date. But I don't and never have bought good watches to tell the time. I wa...

My dilemma! I used to be like everyone else in this thread... Now I lean more like you...

Always has to be correct

Otherwise one feels like a slob; like not having your shirt & tie properly done or having a shoelace loose.

My calendar is a JLC with the IWC coordinated system. All I need (on the JLC adaptation) is a toothpick and a few flicks of the wrist. I imagine that this would be more burdensome if I actually had to adjust the indications separately and look up a moon a...

Hi five Gordon

 By: traineract : May 19th, 2018-05:03
Me too! I do that most of the time, hence I need to wear my date watches over an extended period!

Haha yes!

 By: traineract : May 19th, 2018-19:57
For my psm, which I rarely wear, I really do not set the date most of the time! Plus the date is not v obvious to me. Haha

5050 my holy grail

 By: ID1972Sr : May 19th, 2018-01:18
I could not wear a perpetual without correct settings!

I set the time every time

 By: Thy1r : May 19th, 2018-01:18
But sometimes I make a mistake on date or leap year and i usually keep it like this as the day is running away...

Lol i get that! [nt]

Beloved dependents. Good to read you, Ed.

I always set the date and month, and

 By: SRG : May 20th, 2018-09:19
usually set the moonphase so I can see the moon. I rarely set the moon to a new moon. I figure I'd rather see the moon on the dial than be absolutely correct in its setting.

Interesting twist...i get your point...

 By: ThomasM : May 23rd, 2018-09:43
But find it interesting that you make the exception for the moonphase (I follow your reasoning...)

Thank goodness I'm not alone!

This is my Underwood safe shipped to me from Italy. The watches in the picture are not current as I have done a lot of changing but it certainly takes care of my perpetual and annual calendars! ...

I do

 By: benzng : May 23rd, 2018-16:23
its one of my favorite thing to do when I wear a perpetual. Wind about 30x then set the time/date. it usually takes less than 5 min and have a tooth pick as push pins :0

be careful of slivers if the toothpicks are wooden.

 By: ThomasM : May 23rd, 2018-19:02
sometimes they splinter and the slivers can get stuck. enjoy your time!
