I must admit that we were excited to be able to try but they didn’t make my heart skip a beat I’m afraid. For me the biggest issue is the thickness of the case at 10.7mm for a time/date only watch and the uninspiring dial layout. The double curved crystal is nicely done but at the wrist it is barely visible. Now a thickness of 10.7mm does not seem to be that exuberant comparing to for example the Lange 1 Moonphase at 10mm but I think the lack of a bezel combined with the shape of the case give you a kind of an optic illusion of a thick case. I doubt I will be adding the code 11.59 to my collection any time soon.
If the AD is anything like the one here you got a hard sell..

I don’t think it’s as bad as many people make out TBH. That said they will never please the purists and so it has been proven in this instance. That said for the new watch guy who wants an AP just walking off the street he will likely buy and over time the ugly duckling will turn into a swan.
To big, to thick, but the movement is great, the sapphire crystal amazing and the case and sculpted lugs very cool IMO alas it will never be for me - a shame but true
It must be so hard to introduce a new line/model, especially if you have a following for the Royal Oak. It can not be the same as the RO but it also can not be to different or your loyal fan

will not like it. But to appeal to a `new` group of clients it should be different , more modern perhaps surely with different design concepts. What a risk for AP to undertake this, but needed to not end up with only one selling model line. It will take time for this model to grow in appreciation with a new crowd and i hope they will get it and stay positive on it. As they did with the RO as that one endured some critisism before it became a darling.
Agree, a different design `code` as it must be `new` to address the new crowds they are targeting.....people who dont want whatever the parents are wearing ? Very diffecult task and i wish them the best with it. [nt]
There are no more AP DNA with this Code 11:59 and I have no idea why they use this code, it's catchy and that's about all. No stainless steel model. I might as well get a Lange for the price I have been told. The new chronograph, AP in-house, with flyback, new for AP, ok but I already have few flyback. I buy AP for the unique case shape, the tapestry dial, these are the watch's signature. I guess they have run out of ideas to please their audience, or perhaps putting this flyback chronograph movement onto ROO and RO in the future. Disappointed!!
I still can't believe how this made it to production for such a reputable company. I will be very interested to see what happens to the pre-owned market for these in a few years time.
