Need advise on getting my first Partek. As I am new, thus have look to this forum due to many Patek owner here for some clue.
Would love the Aquanaut and Nautilus series but I know it’s impossible to purchase new and way above retail.
Looking at the following models:
5524R
5905R
5205R
6996R
Are the above true to Partek DNA?

Not sure i can comment a lot, but the pilot watch is pretty new to Patek (or at least they have not done it since quite a long time), so you can hardly say that this is the brand DNA even though it is a nice watch.
The 5xxx series annual calendar are clearly more "patek" in the spirit, as they have invented this complication...
Last one i do not now to which one you refer to so ...
As for value keeping well hard to say, i guess the one that would keep the best its value would be the pilot as it has a bit of hype, but i m not the best to comment there...

Yes agreed on the pilot , was offered this piece from 2 AD here ,was wondering about it’s popularity。
Very, deeply personal choice, but for me....
if it was my first Patek, I'd go for the 5205R-010. It is drop-dead gorgeous and is a modern classic.

Saw it 5905 at the AD today, was gorgeous too but not sure about jumping into the deep end so early.

+ It is very under the radar and less formal
but
- it does not feel as expensive on the wrist as other Pateks in that segment. I think when i pay that much money, i want all the little details that show you this is Patek and not any other nice watchmaker like JLC or so...
Maybe you wait till April, they are probably showing a new simple handwound watch with a new version of the 215...
I personally dont like the Pilots-watch because you can get these kind of watches from IWC or so without worrying as much about your piece.
But that latest thought might be very dump, but its my opinion ...

They are all great watches
so the important exercise is to try them all to see which fits your wrist best and which suits your lifestyle. I would be partial to the 5524R but you must try them on as beauty is in the eyes of the beholder! Welcome here by the way and to the beginning of a wonderful experience . People tend to forget that with Patek, you simply do not just buy the watch, you are buying an incomparable experience.
I would suggest
....giving us a bit more info on your tastes and requrements. What other types of pieces you have ? There is a big spread in price there.
Maybe start with a pre-owned full set 6006G or earlier 6000G - it looks complicated whilst being quite 'simple' and is a classic. Easy to turn round if required as your taste/budget/aspiration evolves.

I picked a marvelous first Patek for myself ... but it didn't stir enough passion ... so it's gone.

Among those personally I would go 5905R...
However if you are looking for an R on strap and do not have to buy from current collection the possibilities are many... 5960R for example is a stunning piece in any dial configuration... also think 6000R or 5140R are superb... well the list can be quite long...
Going back to current offerings in R I also very much think the 5396R with the blue dial is amazing as is the 5205R with black dial...

Pateks are great watches, but despite of being the best watches of the world, there is many more to discover.
If Patek made a watch who fits 100% my taste, i wil not hesitate to go for it.
An example of a watch that surprised me is the Arnold and Son true moon hand-wound. Amazing dial made from a meteorite.

strike a balance between your budget vs which reference you really love because the price range for these models is wide.
The ones you mentioned are relatively available at ADs. Hence, try them on and feel which one sings to you most.

Welcome on this beautiful forum, I can only understand your desire of purchasing your first Patek! :-) Like other friends have already said, it's such a personal choice...
...that in the end, you better follow your instincts and buy what you really like (possibly after having tried it on your wrist), as opposed to what others may like for themselves. I'm not sure what model is the 6996R (perhaps you mean 6006G?), but the others you mention are all nice and classical Pateks, so any of them would be a great choice.
The best advice I can give you is probably to visit a few ADs in your area, try on a bunch of models among those available, and then pick the one that makes you feel better! Please keep us posted --- and good luck!
