... everything! Dial, printing, hands, bezel. Elegant but functional. A beautiful vintage chronograph. I love it to. But why is it a Uni-compax rather than a Bi-compax? Educate me please. Regards Andrew
The older UG bi-compax chronographs used to be named "Compur". When in 1936, UG launched the first ever chronograph with a hour register, they named it Compax. In order to build a particularly complete and coherent chronographs range (unique at the time ?...
... even if it is a predictable offering from me. The F.P.Journe Tourbillon Souveraign is at once entertaining, elegant, complicated and understated. I hope some of you see the same qualities that I do. Andrew ...
come on, how can you expect anyone not to associate that watch with you ? since being predictable has a somewhat negative connotation in people's minds...how about reliable, dependable :-) Best, Mike
... their memories of significant people in their lives, particularly fathers, and the watches they wore. I certainly associate my father with a Seiko. As a collector I worry that my kids will not associate me with any one particular watch. And when they ...
Yours was the first one I had gotten to handle, and it took my breath away. The joy in your heart makes it way so clearly when you write about it. I am glad you enjoy it so. Great choice. Best, CaliforniaJed
... but it hasn't haunted me yet as the Journe DS did, although the infatuation has been slowly evolving for years. And it's from a brand I thought I would never own, on principal. But I got over that little hurdle with Rolex, so I guess I can cope with a...
The UN Planetarium is the watch that for me pushed open the doors to a totally new cosmos of thought, technical genius and history. It combines what I think about our place in the world, and the panta rhei, the ever-changing stream of times. If I were for...
...with whom I associate this watch. There are other watches that have come up in this thread with which I may associate one, two or three collectors, but this is a brand and a specific watch that bring you to mind always. Best, respo
This is indeed the watch I know for you. Your posts on this watch are legendary, I learned so much from them... and quite honestly I am grateful to work alongside you virtually. Warmest, Mike
.. in addition to all that, absolutely splendid pictures ! This is a rare specimen, that humble me gets to see .. Thank you , therefore for the share here, Best, and HAGWE ! hs
will bring many interesting watches and most interesting histories behind them this week end. I had little to think about the watch I would like to be remembered with. I have no doubt this one WILL be the one all my family and close friends will remember ...
... for us as parents, much better than the best of watches! I´m sure both you and your cute kid will surely treasure many memories around these two watches you show here! Have a great week end! Very cordially, Abel.
it is the watch that first introduced me to the purists and the one that best sums up my unusual tastes. the watch in question is of course the UN Freak, #99. in its element, with friends and food overseas. i'm sure you can all name the friends, except pe...
You made me think that perhaps current ownership is not a necessary a criteria for this theme. You owned it, obviously have fond memories with it and thus it remains a part of you, and perhaps one day it will return to your wrist. Warmest, Mike
I am having all kinds of fun reviewing everyone's selections. The watch I want to be know by is the Vacheron Constantin American 1921: There are so many reasons I feel particularly connected to this watch. It makes me feel like this: A couple of years ago...
almost 180 degrees. Yes, I've always associated you with the EWC but we all change and I will make the change with you! All hail the American! Thanks for sharing, Mike
However, I think I don't have this kind of watch Mike, even if the DB25, as an Indy, can try to come close to this definition. Your choice of a JD is a splendid choice as they are watches we don't see that often with a very unique character. As I can't st...
. . . Karree perpetual, Mike . . . . . . or possibly its younger cousin, the manual winding PanoDate. Objectively, you'd be right - these are my watches of choice. They are me. There is, though, one that chose me. Odd, yes, but utterly true. I first saw B...
took me back and the ocean picture did the same. I am a UCSB alum and those beach memories never leave me, even though I was a little bit north of you. This is a great forum. Tim
. . . as explained by Robert Plant: "This is a thing called 'Bron-Yr-Aur'. This is a name of the little cottage in the mountains of Snowdonia in Wales, and 'Bron-Yr-Aur' is the Welsh equivalent of the phrase 'Golden Breast'. This is so because of its posi...
but this choice is so interesting. I knew you've favored it, having seen it in previous photos but never in my mind did I think you would have chosen it. Thank you so much for sharing and for the reasons behind it (or else I would have been scratching my ...
.. That last shot in the sequence is simply said, perfect.. Guess, if all days end like this one, we are lucky & happy likewise.. All the best for a splendid weekend, Best, hs
I wished I discovered Purists 9 years ago and could have joined this lovely gang earlier! 9 years ago I was just 26 and just got married with no money to collect watches then! :) Time really files. Now I know which watch to remember you by :) Cheers Robin...
.. kidding! I was over 40 when I joined the gang - had normal life (meaning, no luxury, can't afford, etc...) until then, hahaha. Anyway, glad you joined after all. Timing is not so important! Ken
What matters is we have joined the gang afterall! :) Hope to meet you one day Ken in Japan. I love visiting Japan alot. :) Mike's post reminds me that time flies. I should visit Japan again soon before another 9 years fly by. Cheers Robin
Will be (no surprises to many here) my Montblanc Villeret grand feu email chronograph. It started my love affair for the beautiful Minerva movements at Montblanc Villeret and also made me more curious and interested in the other lines of Montblanc watches...
Not that big.... my wrist is too small! But looking at it from the normal wrist angle it actually fits well. The traditional Villeret case with the hunter case back has a nice curve at the case back and the leather strap also covers the gap between lugs. ...
Sorry the poison got to you. The curves of the side view and the THICK sapphire glass (like the old plexi glass days) are to die for! Traditional plexi glass look but with sapphire glass! Pure luxury Cheers Robin
Love that EOT. I guess I would like to be associated with my Resonance, the I love how the theme of the two sides in harmony is mechanically expressed HAGWE Andreas ...
.. but in fact there are 2 or 3 ( depending how you wanna count it..) 1/ this is a watch, no a pair of watches, which I associate with friendship and community, with great days.. and lovely company . - But also as watch(es) , this pair of goddesses are on...
