They share the same body, yet have different faces . . .
Of course, they have different movements. EW has the Calibre 321 with an open caseback whereas the FOiS has the Calibre 3861 with a closed caseback engraved with the hippocampus medallion.
But it’s the face that has the most distinguishing features. The EW has a matte black dial with white baton hands and a more reserved fauxtina approach. On the other hand, the FOiS dial is a shiny grey-blue color with alpha hands and a more ‘’in your face’ fauxtina approach. It was quite difficult to see these colors in the OB. Regarding bezels, we have ceramic on the EW and aluminum on the FOiS.
Both have sapphire crystals with the Ω logo etched on the center. The crystal is shaped to mimic hesalite. Unlike the previous FOiS, the latest comes with the option of a bracelet (appears the same as the EW) and straps.
I’m biased as a Speedmaster fan and space exploration enthusiast. But I feel there are enough differences to justify having both in one’s collection. The latest FOiS may satisfy those who had difficulty swallowing the retail price or had difficulty acquiring the EW.
Hope this helps!🥂
