Hello Dan! By coincidence yesterday I have been having lunch with a good friend who was wearing this new version of the SM 300 which he had bought just a few days before.
I was wearing my own previous version so it was inevitable to exchange our watches and compare them finding its differences.
The cosmetic differences are subtle but in my personal view they improved the looks of the new model so much.
Difference are:
The words: "Master Co-Axial Chronometer" at six in previous model is eliminated and the name "Seamaster" was moved from 12 to 6 in new model with addition of "300". This makes for a cleaner dial with a more vintage looks.
Also on dial: the twelve sandwich indexes are present in both models. But on the old model the numbers 3-6-9-12 are painted in white on dial but in the new model they are also cut our sandwich creamy lume like the indexes.
Last but not least, new seconds hand is of the lollipop type which adds charm to the watch. (This lollipop hand was present in the special edition "Spectre" model).
All these changes make for a nicer looking new version of this watch I feel, though in my case are not enough to think of a change of my old for the new, but if I didn´t own it and were offered one my choice would go for the new version for sure.
These are my personal view of course but I hope it will help you Dan.
Best cordial regards, Abel
PS: regret not having taken some pictures yesterday of our respective watches together. Sorry for that! But I can post a picture of my own watch of course.
