. . . they were priced about four times that of standard production steel Speedmasters.
The current steel Ed White lists for $14K; using the same factor of 4, the Canopus 2915 should be priced at $56K. Interestingly enough, it's priced 50% more. So yes, it's overpriced as a commodity, but not ridiculously. And the 50% margin corresponds exactly to the going rate for second-hand steel Ed Whites.
In other words, Omega is pricing the Canopus fairly.
