We’ll not know for sure unless we find out who purchased the watch but I would tend to think this is not the case.

He/she, or perhaps they (dealers have been known to split the “bet”), did for sure buy something which transcends the object itself but I would think it’s far more than just “movie memorabilia”.
All said, I do defer to you and your knowledge of the brand in terms of identifying the significance of this watch. To me it seems like a bargain compared to some of other celebrity associated pieces we’ve seen at auction.
