A french AD told me there was a recall (dial issue) on the mariner, and to be honest and objective there are design issues, cost cutting decision and no respect to polaris history. the memovox reissued were more faithful. For me the case study is Blancpain with the bathyscaphe, you may like it or not but it's a modern no fuss solid reinterpretation of the vintage bathyscaphe (base model that is). They added fancy stuff afterwards but the initial steel model was a very nice contemporary watch. There is nobody at the helm of JLC at the moment, I loved that brand and owned iconic pieces from those guys, but come on the polaris date with its ever moving rotating bezel, pure nonsense. At that price (who can fork 17k without being demanding) there are much better option (ALS for a start).
