I like the dial, more than the previous MUT releases. The rest is a mixed bag. Long term, the need for weird custom straps is going to drive somebody mad one day.
Movie tie-in is an odd choice for JLC, a brand that usually lets its watchmaking do the talking. Less true today than ever, but this could sell ultra-thin dress watches to the young and affluent Instagram generation. If yuppie fashion circles back to ultra thin watches, after decades in the wilderness, this watch will go down as a clever move. If it backfires, we can quietly forget this partnership and it will become an obscure collector piece one day.

I am not a fan of these associations...
With movies, celebrities and limited to sales by one certain outlet. The IWC and Panerai virus has now reached JLC and it must be running within Richemont.
I think we are the exception, though.
It seems the current younger generation is accepting and appreciating these things. Just look at last week's IWC announcement of their pointless association with Orlebar Brown which I had never heard of before. Pathetic to say the least... www.iwc....

The worst part is that these associations seem completely contrived for (immediate) commercial purposes. An unfortunate consequence of not being an independent brand, I guess, but these choices might really end up compromising a brand reputation with real...

4 things are against this watch:
1- The fake pocket watch hook (I think that's what you call it) @ 12 2- The association with the movie 3- Sold only on MR PORTER (OK owned by Richemont but why?) 4- Too high a price

This piece poked the bear in me. But when I saw the price..Eur 27k, I was thinking otherwise. Extremely steep for this piece.

Hands are too long. There should be some slight gap between hands and indices. Is there such a thing as too thin? Thinness is a technical feat, but too thin feels and looks odd. Price seems very high. I like the rose gold color, the eggshell dial and the ...

Yes, this is one of the historical super slim JLC pocket watches that has been featured in their advertisements and brochures.
I also recalled this pocket watch when I saw the watch. There was even a JLC event for WatchProSite members in Beverly Hills several years ago where we got to handle this watch in person!
That crown is going to be so annoying to wind.

HOLY COW that's expensive! $30K USD in gold? I'd rather get the platinum Jubilee $18K USD or the steel version MUT 38 $8K USD.
The steel version MUT 38 seems to have been discontinued a while though.

I think most collectors are bound to be disappointed with the direction most manufacturers are headed but this is what they have demanded (however naively)...
We wanted new releases every year almost like FMCG -We commoditized it. The manufacturers responded by making fewer limited edition ( higher design innovation costs==higher prices )so they do not have to sit on inventory but then get to release something ...

A real beauty and often underestimated, because of it"s 35 mm case.
To me, the 35 mm x 7.3 mm case is in perfect harmony with it's nice handwound movement (L941.1). Might I say, a connaisseur's choice?
There's nothing wrong
with that size. The smallest size I own and wear ist the Blancpain Villeret Phase de Lune with a slender 34mm. Must wear that one more often...
