Jaeger Lecoultre Gyrotourbillon One Platinum PVD: Attractive agitator?
Oct 27, 2020,01:04 AM
You know the first edition of the Gyrotourbillon One, which is a grail for me.
But maybe you didn't know this " bad boy " version, made in pvd coated platinum?
Yes or no, for you?
Best,
Nicolas

To me it is a blasphemy to coat a precious metal.... sorry This does not detract from the appeal of the watch as a whole, and certainly not from the movement wow factor

Gyrotourbillon is magnetic This watch disturbs me ... but does not leave me insensitive while I hate PVD ... Apart from the price - which must be beyond my budget for a watch - I could indulge myself, just for fun ... and the gyro... I’m so weak !

The current auction listing this piece currently stands at a small fraction of the original cost. Maybe Nico has his eye on it... Nico, you need to keep your mind focused on your four-wheeled friend!

If titanium or ceramic or platinum or steel yes... but pvd is a no especially over platinum... very cool loo otherwise
I think I could have been clearer!

As in create a look of sportier watch, but retain the feel of a luxury one. Even though others have said that platinum doesn't seem suitable for PVD coating, PVD coating a steel watch would mean that the weight of the watch would be lost to a lighter meta...
Nah... I find myself "trying" to be enthusiastic about it.

Technically, great watch, no doubt there. PVD on platinum is a turn off, but even getting around that, the overall colorway doesn't quite work for me in this aesthetic. The black PVD applies a sportiness on an otherwise more elegant aesthetic.
So Sporty Looking...

... Rubber strap? Cool? Yes. But misses the mark.

I think you could wrap that movement in dog poop and I would still wear it. Not as nice as the original, but I’m still a fan. Also, Urwerk is another brand known to PVD platinum cases (UR-210 for sure... possibly others). Personally that seems like a wast...

But then, I don’t like black-painted diamonds, either. Ano “There is ‘discreet’ and then there is ‘just plain silly!’” Nuevo

There's a theme song from the Bad Boys movie that comes to mind when I see this watch. It's definitely a cool watch. Definitely not for everybody, but for that special person, it makes sense. Many PuristS here think diamond encrusted watches were for rapp...

Never coated a platinum. It destroys the beauty of it 🙂
This version is a no for me.

The PVD and red hands/indicators try to make the watch sportier. Unfortunately, the Gyro I is more of an elegant and horological timepiece. I prefer a sportier watch to be much simpler. Using the PVD to cover the precious metal is also not the best combin...
Amazing

I really like the gyro too , and I don’t mind the black PVD- yes it’s not ideal but has a stealth look There was one that sold in Antiquorum that I missed but either blacks would be a dream ...

Let me elaborate mon ami
By: renerod : October 28th, 2020-09:01
Yes if it could be had at a good price, given the enoooormous horological value of this watch. Then I would wear it hard (with a custom made toile de voile or Kevlar strap) and give more character to the watch with the wear of the coating. At the end I wo...
