I have to agree with you: the SS version was a bit of a let down when I saw it. Something about the lack of contrast between the silver coloured hands and the silver coloured dial made it look a bit bland in my opinion. I would love to see the PG version, though: from the pictures I've seen, the gold hands / cream dial match to a perfection.
My wife's comments were interesting when I tried the SS version. She thought it was too big on my wrist for a dress watch. So I'm back to square one in my quest for a dress watch for my 40th birthday (still have 13 months to go so no panic here): maybe a WG Patek Calatrava in 38mm, although the more I see the SS JLC Master Control Reserve de Marche, the more I like it.

Has anyone seen the production model in the metal yet? If there are any new owners out there, please post pictures. I am eager to see this new beauty I noticed that Jaeger-LeCoultre recently updated their website to include the new Ultra Thin collection.

To me it is one of the prettiest watches released in 2008
but I cant help but be disappointed. The 896 movement that powers this is meant to be a sub-seconds version of the 899 found in the Master Control sans date. It ends up being an even thicker movement (3.9mm vs 3.3mm) even though it is called an Ultra Thin...
