Jaeger-LeCoultre

There is a new manual wind

"My only concern is that I would have prefered an handwind caliber" - the good news is there is a manual version as well

The JLC communication is not entirely clear but dropping by the Paris boutique the other day cleared everything:

There are in total three versions of the "M.U.T."
- the old version, manual around 34mm
- the new automatic at 40mm with small seconds hand
- and the new manual at 38mm without seconds hand

I asked why the movement was so much smaller than the case and apart from the ovious (same movement as the old version), their answer was that given the thinness of the movement, it could not be too wide for structural rigidity reasons.

I hope this helps. I friend of mine got the last version mentioned for his wedding and I am eager to try it on. Both steel and gold are wonderful and apart from the budget, I would have a tough time choosing.
