A summer on the wrist report on the Grande Reverso Ultra Thin Red.

 By: amanico : September 4th, 2012-00:02
Jaeger-Lecoultre sent me a Grande Reverso Ultra Thin Red for one month, because I wanted to have a more accurate appreciation of this watch. So, I put it in my luggage for this long road trip, whch lead me in Italy, Slovenia and Croatia. A trip full of co...

of course we are all in trouble reading such a post!

 By: nikolaj : September 4th, 2012-00:23
But you knew that you devil! I for one developed a strog desire for this red reading your post on my cell phone over late breakfast - imagine how I will feel once your wonderful pictures are on a bigger screen!! You devil!

Wait to go back home and to be able to see them on your big screen. ;)

 By: amanico : September 6th, 2012-14:29
It was god to meet you, Nikolaj. A real pleasure. Best, Nicolas

I understood the watch at Pl Vendôme :-)

 By: nikolaj : September 7th, 2012-02:11
Now I understand the fuss about your pictures and how they bring the watch in context with the real world. They are good on a mobile phone, and GREAT on the big screen! Thanks again my friend, both for this review and for the nice meeting i Paris - you ar...

You always find nice props to give the watch the contexts.

 By: Ruckdee : September 4th, 2012-00:34
One feel as if really a part of the trip. Thank you for the pictorial report. I have yet to see the red in person. It is not among my "to buy" list but my appreciation for the watch has increased now that I see it in real world settings. Ruckdee

Nothing can replace the " in the real ' experience, Ruckdee.

 By: amanico : September 6th, 2012-14:31
You will see that the Red of the dial is really special. I worked a lot on trying to get the more ' faithful " color, it is not evident. It is a watch to taste in the reality to fully love it. But be warned, this is a dangerous experience. Best! Nicolas.

To tell you the truth

 By: Ares501 - Mr Green : September 4th, 2012-01:50
I was scrolling down and reading your post and thinking oooh that is the best picture than another came so I thought again no no that ONE is the best and so forth till I came to the end of a post I realized I'm crying :) The pictures are just amazing pure...

It is always good to fall in love, my friend.

 By: amanico : September 6th, 2012-14:33
The good news is that it is not an unaffordable dream, for once... ;) All the best, my Croatian friend. Nicolas

No words to describe....

 By: moc : September 4th, 2012-03:46
the intensity of this photo shoot.Marvellous collection, incredible settings and the colours are just majestic! I think this is the best collection you've shoot . I love the watch and the atmosphere ,you captured the DNA of it so well. I missed your Garda ...

I have to say that the " Red " was in its element, in Garda.

 By: amanico : September 6th, 2012-14:35
Something tells me that you will get one soon, my friend. And it won't be a wrong choice! All the best. Nicolas

Great post and fantastic review...

 By: JEC : September 4th, 2012-05:24
I was looking forward to your review of the Red Reverso but it was better than I expected. It was not a standard review from an expected setting. You did a terrific job in capturing the real spirit of the watch in various fantastic settings that reveal it...

Gracias, Javier!

 By: amanico : September 6th, 2012-14:37
It was all fun and a great pleasure to have it as a summer companion. I wish I could jeep it! Best, Amigo. Nicolas

Thank you, Nicolas

 By: respo : September 4th, 2012-05:48
This is one of your best, if not THE best, photo shoots. I especially like the lobster and spaghetti shot. Jerome Lambert is no doubt shaking his head as he wipes off the Reverso. But I think the Red looks its best with the vintage cars. I appreciate your...

That was the purpose of the review, Respo.

 By: amanico : September 6th, 2012-14:53
Not the lobster, but how it can adapt itself in so differentr environments... ;) Best, and thanks for your comments! Nicolas

Bravo!

 By: cazalea : September 4th, 2012-06:21
Now I am hungry for Italian food, and a red watch! Cazalea

Almost agree...

 By: nikolaj : September 7th, 2012-02:07
I'm hungry for the watch, a red italian car and green lights :-) All the best, Cazalea

Nothing short of spectacular

 By: foowy : September 4th, 2012-07:15
Thanks Nicolas for the great review. Love the Rouge pairing with vintage cars. It definitely conjures up that passion I had for the Rouge and makes me ponder once again :) Think it looks great on you, we'll be seeing it in your collection in the near futu...

This is dangerous indeed.....

 By: Andy : September 4th, 2012-08:24
But I fear your could be in trouble as it looks fantastic on your beautiful wife too....it looks great on both of you so a true family watch to share :) Good idea, yes..?? Some of your best pics and you really showed the dial to perfection....bravo. Yours...

I already am in trouble.

 By: amanico : September 6th, 2012-14:59
My wife wanrs one... And as I don't know how to say no to her... ;) Than,ks for the compliments, my friend. All the best. Nicolas.

Excellent.....

 By: Andy : September 6th, 2012-15:15
I look forward to seeing one :) Looks like we all win...except your wallet..!! Congrats Nico, Andy.

Absolutely! ;) [nt]

 By: amanico : September 6th, 2012-15:16

Fabulous pictures

 By: nilomis : September 4th, 2012-08:44
One better than the other. I even check the EXIF to see if you got a new camera. Not! Of course, the garlic one is not from Vlad. Cheers, Nilo

The Garlic is one of my fav photo. I love the blend of colors, which

 By: amanico : September 6th, 2012-15:00
IMO, enhances the tue beauty of this watch. I stay faithful to my Leica... ;) Best, Nilo. Nicolas

I was waiting for this one

 By: Dje : September 4th, 2012-10:30
Hi Nicolas, You had great holidays and the watch only adds a supplement of charm to your report. It is clearly a great and dangerous Reverso, for me the best offer in steel, and maybe simply the best. Now I miss it! :-) See you Dje

Well, Jerome, there are dreams which are easier to achieve than others.

 By: amanico : September 6th, 2012-15:02
I would well see you wit this one on your wrist. But you already know that... ;) Best, Nicolas

Lovely pictures Nicolas…

 By: Dr_Nav : September 4th, 2012-10:49
And thanks for this awesome post :-D When purchasing a watch I am more conservative when choosing the colour of the dial. Although this red Reverso is stunning, I would opt for regular white or cream coloured dial and change the straps occasionally making...

You can't go wrong, Nav! Black or Red, you will have a magnificient

 By: amanico : September 6th, 2012-15:04
Time keeper. The Reverso is an icon, whatever is the color of its dial. Best, and thanks for your input. Nicolas.

Many thanks for the presentation, Nicolas

 By: ztirual : September 4th, 2012-12:57
To be frank I' d say it is nice on your wrist but it looks simply fabulous when worn by your wife. I also feel that the watch comes out better when not competing with other red colors. This is such a nice, special red veering towards the magenta/ purple a...

The red environment helped me a lot to find the good settings

 By: amanico : September 6th, 2012-15:06
AND to give you a better idea of the natural and teue color of the dial. I must admit that I was puzzled when I saw the Red on my wife's wrist... Her too, by the way! ;) Best, Nicolas

So much to give ...

By: Mark in Paris : September 4th, 2012-14:08
I think I can say I didn't at all see the even smaller part of the full potential this watch has: pleasure, legacy, uniqueness etc ... I was thinking about it when I went down the review: this Red one is indeed a life style on its own. I appreciate what t...

Absolutely! The Red is a style of life in itself.

 By: amanico : September 6th, 2012-15:08
You now have to try it again, to get a deeper appreciation of this " jewel ". Thanks for your input, Mark. Nicolas

A very nice watch but...

 By: foversta : September 4th, 2012-14:19
The watch is very nice and your report highlights its beauty. But I would have two personal issues with it. The first one is the strap. Once I buy a watch, I remove the black strap. i don't like black straps... But finding an alternative colour here is no...

Agree

 By: kkwn98 : September 5th, 2012-03:42
I'm not a big fan of black straps either, but, as you rightly note, black is indeed the best colour for the Reverso Rouge. I really did try to find another strap for it, but, at best, it would have been black stingray... I haven't actually worn my Rouge y...

agree on black croc straps, but...

 By: nikolaj : September 5th, 2012-11:57
Hi Fr-X As you know I am in Paris and took the opportunity to see this watch in the metal and I am personally convienced that it would work as a casual watch (but not on the original strap). I think that dark brown or grey could work (suede?) or even blac...

Thanks! [nt]

 By: amanico : September 7th, 2012-01:40

The strap is not really an issue.

 By: amanico : September 7th, 2012-01:39
We are used to have this issue with JLC watches, so we are also used to find the solution. An ostrich strap, or a light tan calf would do the job in a really nice way. A Cordovan would be sublime, too. As for the dress code, va white linen shirt is the be...

rhôôôôôô !

Mate the Rouge has been on my mind forum recent days....well done on the post ! :-) sending you a PM soon

Ouch !

 By: Noodia : September 4th, 2012-22:38
What a wonderful photos report Nicolas, a real treat for the breakfast ! I've been lucky to cross you when were wearing this one which gave me the opportunity to wear it a moment. Clearly, it is a real wrist candy, the overall finishing is awesome with a ...

A GT size could nicely work, with such a dial.

 By: amanico : September 7th, 2012-05:26
Aaaargh, you are a lost case for the modern production. ;) The Vintafe may be for you. The problem is that its value already touched the sky. No... This Reverso Red is a sympathetic compromise. :) Best, my friend. It was a pleasure to let you play with it...

WOW effect !

 By: Mike H : September 5th, 2012-01:02
WOW is the only word which could come out as I was scrolling down your review. Great watch, wonderful pictures, so nicely put in context with a nice story. Many many thanks for this great post Nicolas. Best, Mike

Fantastic!

 By: kkwn98 : September 5th, 2012-03:34
Great report and photos - many thanks for putting this together. I must wear mine soon! Kind regards

Lucky fellow! Thanks. [nt]

Nicolas, I think you should get..

 By: fernando : September 5th, 2012-04:21
this watch for your lovely model (wife). This way you can borrow it from time to time when the mood beckons or when it blends in with the environment. I can't imagine you going to court wearing it with your red pocket square and matching tie. What will yo...

Luckily, we, lawyers, are not obliged to fully play the full matching game.

 By: amanico : September 7th, 2012-05:33
;) As for my wife, it was a bad idea to let her play with. Now, she wants one. ;) But I found anoother toy to change her mlnd. With a bit of luck, you will see this new toy soon... Best, my friend. Nicolas

Wonderful late summer treat!

 By: Marcus Hanke : September 5th, 2012-06:48
... of which I especially love this picture: A very beautiful watch, but for me, it would be too specific in style so I could wear it only very, very rarely. Regards, Marcus ...

aaah, the matching cup... ;)

 By: amanico : September 7th, 2012-05:35
You need to see it in the flesh, Marcus. The REd of the dial is not too shiny, and has a very nice vintage look. So you can wear it more often than you think. That was one point I wanted to check, indeed. ;) Best, Nicolas

FANTASTIC photos of this Rouge!

 By: ocwatching : September 5th, 2012-09:24
I am going to keep the wife away from your post! We were on the list here with BHB and had to pass due to other commitments however, the red keeps haunting her (of course you know we have the Black TTR US). Very festive and chic and elegant..all the key w...

The Red and the Black... That would sound very " Stendhalien "!

 By: amanico : September 7th, 2012-05:41
As for the wallet, we only live once. Do never listen to bankers, they are not very funny. ;) Best, Nicolas.

The photos are truly stunning, Nicolas

 By: nitediver : September 5th, 2012-11:31
I have no other words - especially the shots with the vintage cars are a real killer! You know that you dont make our live much easier - another temptation! - but certainly much more enjoyable! thank you for another outstanding post, Nicolas! Best, Stefan...

There are some strong links between cars and watches, Stefan.

 By: amanico : September 7th, 2012-05:44
I should write " between some cars and some watches "... The Reverso Red is, obviously, one of them. After all, driving a fine car with a fine watch is also a lifestyle! Best, Nicolas

"You had me at Hello"

 By: 4Js : September 5th, 2012-14:29
Nicolas, you know you hooked me with the very first posting on this beauty. Your shots for this post are absolutely stunning. I have several saved in my Reverso folder for future viewings!. Glad you had a fabulous holiday and took advantage of all your lo...

Thank you for my second Vacation! What a great

tour with great pictures, maps, food, seashore, you really topped yourself on this one sir. The picture on the garlic was my favorite for showing the true beauty of the watch. What a great trip. Many thanks, Tim

Thank you so much, Tim.

 By: amanico : September 7th, 2012-05:46
Yes, the Garlic shot is one of my favourite too... It woke the Vlad in me up. ;) Best, Nicolas

A beautiful photo essay, Nicholas...

 By: jporos : September 6th, 2012-08:39
might we see some shots of the watch 'reversed'? Thank you for bringing us along in your journeys!

Naaah. It was a too painful moment.

 By: amanico : September 7th, 2012-05:48
I thought about that, but to say all, I didn't see the interest of capturing, in photo, a watch I just gave back to his owner... Too painful. ;) Best, Nicolas

Good for many occasions, but especially good for gentleman sports car drivers...

 By: patrick_y : September 6th, 2012-10:30
It looks good in many different occasions! But it looks best being worn in the following conditions: 1. Driving a red car 2. While eating a red tomato 3. Drinking anything out of a red coffee cup 4. On a pretty lady 5. With a red necktie They say red is a...

LOL. You got the idea, my friend. Thanks for your nice words.

 By: amanico : September 7th, 2012-05:49
Aaah, by the way, I don't see you as a too serious person. Don't be afraid of that! ;) Best, Patrick; Nicolas

Wonderful pics! [nt]

Wonderful post Nicolas!

 By: kglaw : September 7th, 2012-08:32
Your pics are wonderful and they really show the beauty of the Red Reverso. As one who is just getting into JLC now, I have been considering the 1931 Ultra Thin Black, but after reading your post. I think I will also have to consider the Red. Thanks for t...

Thanks, my friend. The Black and the Red play another partition.

 By: amanico : September 7th, 2012-10:33
And such a different partition that you can consider both of them. :) Best, Nicolas.

Brilliant shoot!

 By: walidk : September 8th, 2012-13:45
You definitely showed the rouge in its top form! Many thanks for this! Best, Walid

Nice 'photo-reportage' !!

 By: RobCH : September 18th, 2012-02:34
Thanks. This watch is really growing on me...

Cool report and nice pics, as usual !

 By: dirost : September 20th, 2012-06:04
Hi Nico, This is a very charming and unusual Reverso. Last time we met, I had the opportunity to put it at my wrist and I wasn't disappointed. I didn't know that you are found of speed. You should try my car (o to 100km/h in 4,5 s, it pushes quite hard) a...

I am always open for a test drive. ;)

 By: amanico : September 20th, 2012-06:14
I have laways been nut with cars, this is just that I tried ( in vain ) to control this madness... As for the watch, it was a superb summer companion. Maybe one day I will turn the dream into reality? Best, Nicolas

Dear Nicolas. Back home again I m trying to up date with all...

 By: Subexplorer : September 29th, 2012-21:21
... Messages, mails and Forum posts I couldn t read during my holiday trip. Among these not read posts, I find this fantastic report on the rouge Reverso. You know, I got my own rouge just three weeks ago. I wrote my own short report in the JLC sub forum ...

So, you got one? :)))

 By: amanico : September 29th, 2012-23:46
The Reverso Red is very tough to take in picture, work on the angles, and you will see that all changes, in a deep way. The more I think about it, the more I am convinced that it is the watch of the year 2012. Enjoy yours! Un fuerte abrazo. Nicolas.
