What a weird idea!
Jan 15, 2017,14:15 PM
But, one that probably is very natural after a short time.
The problem is likely switching between this and normal watches, there will be an adjustment period each way.
As a main watch, though, this could be very nice.

[SIHH 2017] New Voutilainen Vingt-8 "ISO"
By: Mark in Paris : January 15th, 2017-11:25
The watchmaker has just unveiled a new and original complication in his Vingt-8 model. You can see on the picture below that there is a mobile minute ring. The ring will move at the same speed than the hour hand. Hence, the minute hand will have to adapt ...
The outer ring moves clockwise at the same speed as the hour hand
By: iadxb : January 15th, 2017-12:21
While the minute hand is adjusted to move 8.33% faster than normal so in one hour it rotates 390° and catches up to the hour hand. A curious way to display time, perhaps, but not quite a 'complication' in any sense of the word...
yes, that's how I understand it works too
By: Mark in Paris : January 16th, 2017-09:19
When talking about what's different I would say there will never be enough to me as each try is always a good thing and we never know what it can bring and who it will appeal to. Best, Mark
Surprising indeed
By: Mark in Paris : January 16th, 2017-09:20
Just a kind of sense of curiosity from KV I guess, in such a classical field.
That's my thoughts
By: Mark in Paris : January 16th, 2017-09:21
I wonder if after a while, it may become even more easy or interesting reading time with such display? We'll see when people can try it! Best, Mark
I agree, while keeping its simpler 3 hander look.
By: Mark in Paris : January 16th, 2017-10:54
I had a look at its collections' page (present and past) and I must say that it is huge for such a small watchmaker. Here: www.voutilainen.ch #* Thus I can understand that such brand can't bring something totally new each year. This is a nice way ...

Exactly
By: Mark in Paris : January 16th, 2017-09:22
Not very natural but who knows how well will it work for the wearer? Maybe good, who knows You're right, switching between watches would not be that easy though. Best, Mark
+1...I don't "get" this one
By: vitalsigns : January 15th, 2017-16:52
I like alternate time displays, but this one doesn\'t work for me.
You're right Poky
By: Mark in Paris : January 16th, 2017-09:27
We'll see what will be the feedback of people who can try it, it might be interesting! Best, Mark
Very interesting.
By: JerryW : January 15th, 2017-15:20
It does make sense. Probably take a few hours to acclimate to the movement. Others who see it would think you have the wrong time, great conversation piece.
Agreed.
By: willski : January 15th, 2017-17:35
This KV sings at a much lower level than his other pieces to me...
That's a question
By: Mark in Paris : January 16th, 2017-09:25
As I wrote above, maybe the wearer will be surpised to feel it is even easier reading than the standard manner? Or just a way to express curiosity from the watchmaker. Time will tell Kari! Best, Mark
Let's see.
By: dr.kol : January 16th, 2017-10:08
I am never really impressed about new inventions which do no add value in any ways. Best, Kari
Lovely movement of course from Kari
By: alphabeta81 : January 15th, 2017-22:32
But this makes no sense to me. Doesn\'t feel special, the only word that comes to mind is "confusing" to be honest
I think that a part of the people looking for Indies
By: Mark in Paris : January 16th, 2017-09:29
are also looking for something unusual. We see among the indpendent watchmaking a lot of very original displays. Maybe that this manner to tell time will appeal to some and that the experience wearing it is better than we think? We'll see. Best, Mark
I agree but as we say in stock market investing
By: alphabeta81 : January 16th, 2017-15:35
Contrarian for the sake of being contrarian has little value. Different just to be different to me is similar. I am a huge Kari fan but this to me is a rare miss where he is trying too hard.
I like it too Zabreg
By: Mark in Paris : January 16th, 2017-09:31
It is very pure with a little touch of modernity. A bit like yours, with a light main color and touches of blue and red. Best, Mark
Had to keep from posting till SIHH
By: Patekphilippecollector : January 16th, 2017-07:57
Hope the video works but if not it\'s in my instagram where you can see it work ...
I can imagine that Karl!
By: Mark in Paris : January 16th, 2017-09:34
Thanks for sharing. Being informed and respecting the date is tough indeed as one thing we like is sharing and discussing with watch communities. Thanks for waiting until now for sharing it and respecting that! Best, Mark
Thank you Mark in Paris

In a word. Awsome. I saw the blue dialed one in Môtiers early last November and I fell completely under the charm of this watch. The dial needs to be seen with the lettering under the glazing of the enamel playing hide and seek- Very subtle. But of course...
Great reading your feedback Z'
By: Mark in Paris : January 18th, 2017-07:14
I can imagine how nice the dial is (I didn't notice it was enamal). I totally agree with what your wrote. We all have the specific angle we look at watchmaking, what we appreciate in those micro mechanics. It is not always about usefulness, legibility, wa...
This is amazing

The minute hand will be aligned with the hours hand for each full hour. So, the rotation speed of the minute hand is 65 mn per hour. I'll let you do the math for the disk You're gonna be wrong at reading the time in the first place, because we are so used...
Agree
By: bmwmw : January 21st, 2017-04:43
I commissioned an ISO from Kari last year and am collecting it soon. I actually think this display, with the hour and minute hands lining up on the hour each hour, is more intuitive than the traditional display we are all used to. I also like the idea of ...
Great choice!
By: Mark in Paris : January 22nd, 2017-07:14
With such a watch your wishes will be fulfilled. We're looking forward to see that we you get it! Best, Mark
Very original, and beautiful
By: wootwoot : January 21st, 2017-17:24
I love it and more than that love the way Kari confounds the establishment. My kind of watch, my kind of watchmaker.
That's all the question Nicolas.
By: Mark in Paris : January 29th, 2017-06:18
I think that each one's experience will be different and it won't suit to everyobody. May be it will prepare for something else in the future Best, Mark
Original Kari

I really loved this, one of the real novelties found at SIHH. ...
The dials are stunning but...
By: mark1958a : February 8th, 2017-10:14
I think this would result in mistakes telling time .. will get confusing. .Just think if the guy next to you looks over your shoulder to see the time he will definitely get it wrong
I think it would need a little time indeed
By: Mark in Paris : February 8th, 2017-12:48
but maybe the philosophy will speak to some people and be nice to use on the long run. We'll see if an owner wishes to talk about it in the future! Best, Mark
