I'm not as knowledgeable about Hublot as you are. The brand is completely new to me.
But after the short experience I already have, I don't understand the many criticisms.
My impression: You really get a lot for your money. And the quality is top!
The titanium case combined with skeletonized dial produces „1.000 shades of grey“ which is very exciting and versatile. 
So, so far I'm still very happy. ☺️

At the heart of the Big Bang Unico Essential Grey beats the manufacture HUB1280 calibre, a “simple” column-wheel chronograph movement, not a Rattrapante. The case size is 42 mm.

Just my humble opinion, but I think it is awesome. There is room in any collection for a watch like this - as long as it suits your tastes! I think history will be kinder to Hublot than watch enthusiasts currently are.

No, I didn’t change the strap. It’s the same ridged rubber strap that was on the watch when it was delivered. Included in delivery there’s also a silvery fabric and Velcro strap that almost looks like a Milanese bracelet. I haven’t tried it yet. Cordially...
