Yes, it‘s thick! 😅
Hight very much depends on 3 things:
1. The shape of the case. Here Sinn unfortunately does not try to conceal it. It‘s a simple robust block, as most Flieger watches are. In contrary e.g. - the Omega Speedmaster! With 13.x mm not thin, but the case shape is very sophisticated and it would never look thick on the wrist!
2. The shape of the lugs: the more they point downwards, the better.
3. The shape of your wrist back and the way you wear your watch! Yes, ☺️! Many case backs can sinck „into“ your wrist back, if you wear them slightly tight… 😉
So, thickness can be very well concealed if done right from the manufacturer and the wearer side.
Besides that, it‘s a toolwatch! They are not thin! So wear it proudly! 🤩
I almost bought this watch today.
I was ready to press the buy button when I noticed the watch is 15mm thick. Such a shame. I think the watch looks great and at 38.5mm I find it perfect. But I’m so sorry it is so thick. 😢 ...
I understand that this is not a super expensive watch...
...but the art of making thin watches seems to have disappeared, and few seem to care...apart, of course, from the brands chasing the thin 'crown.'

Starting at about 10,5mm for a classical Chronofelix, to about 12mm for the Perpetual Calendar Chrono. And they are far from breaking the bank, too. Piaget used to have a reasonably thin Altiplano Chrono, too. But you are right, too many watches nowadays ...
Habring2 is an excellent recommendation
The blogs list their thickness at 11 mm, while the Habring2 website suggests "about 12 mm" for the Chrono Felix. Habring2 is possibly the best choice for most under 10000 USD, considering you can also customize the dial to your taste.

The Breitling B09 comes in at just over 13 mm. I find that pretty comfortable. It's in-house, manual wind, no date - all good features IMO.

Precisely why I held off on so many chronos. I only look at things thinner than 126500 which is 12.0m. Other than things that are very big step up like 5170s or 1815 chronos, the choices are narrowed down a lot. The only one that is relatively inexpensive...
You should have a look at the Hanhart 417 ES 1954 Flyback.
Being equipped with a manual wound movement, the 39mm case has a 13.3mm thickness. It exists with a reverse panda configuration similar to that Sinn. And the price is very fair for the specs.

Interesting. I had a very similar experience when given an opportunity to purchase a very low production (25 pieces made) Tutima with the same dimensions. 38.5 X 14 or 15. Also it was
rather affordable. Before seeing it I looked up the dimensions and told the AD I was going to pass. But when it arrived at the store I looked at it. I still thought those dimensions were awkward but also loved that it was powered by a Valjoux (hand wound)...
