Horological Meandering

Would have been ten...

...except for one slacker Purist who had to endure the harsh environs of the Santa Barbara beach area due to an unfortunate previous engagement.

Did have an interesting story. Was in one of the oldest stores in SB to sell Rolex. In walk a group of young folks in beach attire.

One guy asked, "I'm looking for a Rolex to give as a gift to a friend, what can you recommend".

The proprietor had a decent selection of classic models, as well as a few of the usual suspect "look at me" variety.

He was looking at a few of the more expensive ones, but said, "My friend really wants one on a leather band".

The proprietor told him that the only Rolex that come with a strap are some solid gold models, and that maybe he should look at these Montblancs over in this case, since they had straps.

My impression was that the buyers, though acting perhaps spur of the moment, were actually serious buyers.

It was all I could do to not say that it's much better to buy with the bracelet, and then purchase a strap later - but it was none of my business.
