Horological Meandering

user error?

Of course I'm joking, but as someone who deals with a large number of difficult to understand, substantiate or certainly confirm client conplaints every other day or two, the thought does cross my mind. smile

I agree with the honorables Mr.s Kingston and 1440 that rebanking is the most likely suspect (assuming it is runninng fast on the winder).

Postional variation may have something to do with it, but unless we're talking about a very cheap, poorly adjusted or desperately sick watch, it shouldn't account for minutes a day.

Very gentle, consistent torque on the mainspring by way of consistent rotation of the oscillating weight on a winder can cause the mainspring to slip at a higher torque than it might when subjected to the uneven and irregular motions of the rotor when worn. If the watch is already running at pretty high amplitude, this difference can push it into overbanking territory (yes, I am using this formerly incorrect terminology these days: language is egalitarian afterall). This doesn't happen to have a JLC 889 or related base movement, does it?

If it's minutes slow however, then I'd have to suspect it's stopping and IF it's happening CONSISTENTLY on the winder and NOT on your sedentary wrist (show me the data), then I'd have to guess at an escapement error related to a postion the watch doesn't much see on the wrist (11H?).
