Horological Meandering

I am sure there is a liitle of both within us all. I sometimes really dig into a theme. I may have outdone my self. This collect is exclusively Doxa Sub 300T and the predecessor the Sub 300 no T which is from around 1967. The collection ends early 1970's....  

Ok, to the main question: I'm neither an accumulator nor can consider myself a collector. I don't have too many watches and they are all random, maybe lost in direction when "collecting" from young, when there's not enough bullets, and buying at baby step... 

. . . all spread out on a pool table. It's even more impressive in the metal. Trust me ;-) . . .

There are some really special ones like the black lung apparently only around a dozen know to exist. I have two. These are the very early Plexi versions that where ahead of the game with Rolex. Rolex at 200 meters and the Doxa Sub 300 at ... 300 meters wh... 

Seriously, Doxa should sponsor you to maintain one with your collection. The closest I get to a collection are three watches from one brand but nothing nearly resembling the dedication and patience of acquiring one like yours Ever considered modern Doxa?

A couple quartz diver very cool and the Spirotechnique 600 diver. I need to grab some pictures.

You have definitely outdone yourself as a collector! For me I like fine chronos and here is my little collection Montblanc Villeret 16.29, Lange Datograph, Montblanc Villeret 13.21 Cheers Robin ...

Bill, this is an amazing collection. The no Ts, wow. Having a few of these myself. A very humble colection compared to yours. If ever you want to thin your collection don't worry, I will help you.

Surprised to see there is another one of these prototype watches. Mine was vigin when I bought it. Goes to show that Doxa history will reveil itsself though our watches over time. Any special info on the former owner? Makes sense that one is showing up on... 

To be honest i did not believe it was factory produced. But to find a second one in the same configuration leads me to the conclusion that it may have be done gor a reason. I think it is time i restore it to its original beauty. Bill

Yes, I believe so. I presume you did not read the Monochrome article. I am confinced it has a link with the gold plated Cousteau anniversary Aqua Lungs. Well worth a restauration. No serial on yours too I presume, just model no.

It has almost become a habit. In Souther California the Doxa sub 300 was dominant with divers as they were stringly promoted in the local dive shops. And the no decom bezel was super inovative vs Rolex which simply gave a simple time based insert. Bill

The Dive cowboys of Santa Barbara. The where paid by the depth on the way do they would suffer from the bends and continue through it and successfully complete the dive and job. Crazy stuff.

......but it's nice to be crazy and allows us to leave from reality from a few hours .... Ha ha. All the best Juan
