As I dive head first into the world of vintage watches, with the acquisition of arguably the most beautiful moon phase watch ever produced (expected delivery next month), I have been pouring through catalogues, magazines, and the internet to satiate my de...
Stunning in it's simplicity. Would love to start collecting triple dates, unfortunately the vintage pieces are often to small for me at 35 - 37mm. Maybe I collect them for my daughters to wear one day! Thanks for posting, Dean
Look at what people thought when Panerai was launched... " No way, too big "...Is what we used to hear. No, look at what happens... I can even predict that more and more people will appreciate smaller, more modest size. Best, Nicolas
The Tri-Compax introduced by Universal Geneve in in the early 40s were chronographs offering triple calendars and a moonphase Here's one from the early 60s and one from the late 60s/early70s Best, Laurent ...
Totally forgot to mention Universal Geneve. I have been looking for a good example of a yellow gold Bi-Compax. The Tri-Compax is nice too, but with the chrono function, I think it falls into the Sports watch category. For me, a Triple Calendar in its most...
Thanks WatchFred. Looks like you knew what I mean for years, and I am just discovering.... i particularly like the YG Heuer with the black dial. They don't make them like they used to. Actually, some brands still produce a nice Triple Date. JLC comes to m...
The YG 8171 is one of the most beautiful watches ever made in my humble opinion. The perfect Triple Calendar. Thanks for the beautful pictures. You are one lucky guy to have got this one at that auction, and in such good condition. Dean
It is actually in Rosegold, the old rosegold in rolex are not as red as the one we see today. Yes i am so blessed to hv this in my collection. It has dominated my wrist since the day it arrived. Somthing about this watch just sing and sing and sing the so...
I was actually hunting for an 8171 after seeing your post with the trip to HK. I missed one that was listed in the Collectors Market by a couple of months. But then I came across another opportunity to get a watch I yearned for in the 90's. But it is not ...
Your 4240 is simply perfect. There is one with French dates for sale at the VC NY Boutique under their vintage "Collectionneurs" program, fully restored. I must say if I hadn't just bought an IWC 5251, I would snap it up for certain. Thanks for posting.
Hey Blomman, Love the pictures and the visual trickery. Had me confused for a moment. A beautiful pair, and a perfect example of Triple Calendars being some of the most beautiful watches ever produced. Thanks
Hey, Perpetuals don't belong on this thread ! But are more than welcome. I do love your Record Chrono Calendar, and they also produced a spectacular Datofix. Thanks for posting Cazalea, Dean
Thanks for posting, I have been waiting for a Blancpain. May seem a silly question, but what do the numbers from 0 - 29 represent around the moon phase? Cheers, Dean
Gents, may I congratulate you on some gorgeous TC pieces. Iceman, your piece is a superb example, of a complication, which I wish Rolex would re-introduce. The Record, is another brand, that I have not heard of before and that I shall soon correct. :)
You are not the only one who thinks Rolex sd remake the 8171. To me, its the most asthetically beautiful object on my wrist. Surpassing even my 5070p. But it is just how it makes me feel. "HAPPY" Best Iceman.
