Sorry but form over function= madness!!!
I really could care less about trends or fashion at this stage of my life but if an object or tool tries to look good or cool over performing the functions and task it is meant for to me that is just a massive fail. This especially applies to watches if you can't easily read the information the watch is meant to be giving you it defeats the whole reason for its existence IMHO. Others may and can feel differently as that is their choice to make and I am not the boss of anyone but myself.

At the moment, I think what’s becoming more common is just wearing a watch as an accessory. The “kids” will even just wear one that’s not working! Because it looks cool / matches their style / has a brand name on it. Which takes the “can’t read the time” ...

I use watches for knowing the time
Why a lot of watches come with a hard to read function is maybe a fashion trend. I never liked fashion, so i ignore hard to read watches. I own some, but the pictures in the ads showed good to read hands.
