At the moment, I think what’s becoming more common is just wearing a watch as an accessory. The “kids” will even just wear one that’s not working! Because it looks cool / matches their style / has a brand name on it. Which takes the “can’t read the time” ...

At least for those of us under... checks year.. under 50 😩 The watch is a silly leftover of a previous age. It's the appreciate of its design and engineering. But acknowledging it's unneeded function. When I show my art dial prototypes the guys my age get... 

Why a lot of watches come with a hard to read function is maybe a fashion trend. I never liked fashion, so i ignore hard to read watches. I own some, but the pictures in the ads showed good to read hands.

Omega did some DSOTM with minimal contrast years ago, as did some others. The low legibility black on black was a marketing trend about 15 years ago, too. As watches are mutating from a useful tool to primarily a Veblenian good for many, I guess we will s...

…I actually like these designs, as impractical as they are. I think there was (is) an all black Omega I tried a few years ago that I liked. And Hublot had that all gray Big Bang. The IWC you posted I like too.
