Thanks, on many levels...

Dear Magnus,

If you will indulge this personal reflection: you were one of the compelling attractions for coming to PuristS back in the days of the much-lauded original platform; one of the objective reasons for staying so long through the evolution of the site and now a compelling factor in a resuscitated interest in horological collegiality. To this day, the contents of the watchbox reflect an enduring interest in the AHCI/Independents originally instilled and fuelled by you and two or three others (Don, Curtis, Felipe and yes, even Bernard).  More importantly, you have illuminated with your intelligent aesthetic and validated with your rational analysis the intrinsic value of brands and pieces that might otherwise have escaped unnoticed. Thank you, for example, for your pointers towards the MIH watch, Paul Gerber (ah, the P10!), Ochs and Junior and Habring, all of which hold pride of place in the collection  - in large part, thanks to you.

(Not merely said for the sake of saying: for example, do you remember posting this one? Talk about 'watch purity'! It was great to acquire the MIH, but oh wouldn't it be lovely to have THIS one!)

In recent months it has been terrific to see you become more active again Magnus (or so it seems), along with a few of the other 'old hands'. Please keep it up, and once again "thank you" for being such an important contributor, and an important influence, all these years.

Cheers,
pplater.

Fantastic write-up of a real gentleman! Bravo! PS I too am an enormous admirer of Paul Gerber and have a couple of his pieces in my modest collection. Always great to see PG mentioned here!

Thank you for pulling back the veil a bit

It's always interesting to see how people with similar tastes in watches can vary in the motivation for collecting them. And I appreciate your thoughts on what makes a collection (a theme I have often pondered). Cheers, Cazalea

'Collecting' I think is the icing on the horological cake. There are so many themes, motivations, approaches.

 By: Ornatus-Mundi : October 2nd, 2017-07:01
Common to all who take this seriously is that the process allows a glimpse into the personality. Also, regardless how seasoned you are with watchmaking, you always learn. Amongst the PuristS' group, we have one individual, for example, who collects only b...

HI Magnus,
