Of course what you're describing is rare in every sense: both on the side of the merchant and the buyer.

The best purchasing experiences I have ever had have ALL been in Dubai and Hong Kong. The efficiency, attentiveness, the quality of engagement, and the follow-up are simply without comparison from my experiences over three decades in Europe and north America. The additional distinction is that in Dubai and Hong Kong the merchants act as though it was their natural role to go as far as possible to make the experience an outstanding one. In Europe and north America you are usually expected to acknowledge that you are partaking in a rarified, privileged encounter. I know which I prefer.
I should add that I'm not only talking about the purchase of a watch here. My experiences extend to spectacles and jeans. Items tailored or made-to-measure within 24 hours - at no extra cost. Items delivered to my hotel because of an early morning flight the next day - at no extra cost.
This is of course a simplification. At the same time, the differences in experience are such that it's prompted me to return to those places precisely because of the quality of personal experience.
