My year in watches.

Dec 24, 2022,14:39 PM

It is that time of the year when it makes sense to look back at the changes in my watch collection that took place in 2022.

Another busy year with 11 watches that left the collection and 14 new ones that I collected throughout the year.

This is how the new ones came in:

January

A great start with the PP 5235R which is for me one of the best modern PP's.

The Longines Heritage (Tuxedo) chronograph : one of the best Longines heritage models.

March

Omega Chronoscope in bronze-gold : a beauty on the wrist !

A spontaneous buy : the Seiko SLA 049J "Naomi Uemura" limited edition. A truly iconic diver design !!

April

Norqain Neverest "Glacier" : a very versatile diver from an interesting young brand (great qualilty for the price !!).

The AP ROC 50th anniversary was offered to me from the AP boutique : how could I have said "No" ??

May

Sinn 556 carneol red limited edition : ordered this one as soon as I saw it...and have no regrets!

Breitling B01 Navitimer : I liked this one so much that I exchanged it against the previous  (blue dialed) version !

Omega CK 859 : everybody's darling ...and rightfully so!

June

Fulfilled an old dream with the PF Ovale Pantographe : now,as originally planned, out for complete factory service and hoping that it will not take too long!

July

Another spontaneous buy for this limited edition Nomos Tetra : one of my "coolest" watches!

July

Could this be my favorite Omega ?  The green version of the SMP 300 Professional.

September

And another watch from one of my favorite brands : the Nomos Metro Update 41.

December

And to close the year in beauty : the Blancpain Villeret Quantième Complet.

For next year not a lot is planned : I am awaiting a unique piece from Jochen Benzinger that should be with me in the next 1-2 months.
And then there is a special watch that I am hunting since a while and for which many things will need to fit : pricing,condition,location,trade-in possibilities,...).

But then I am pretty much at the end of my watch collecting story for two major reasons : First I am very happy with the watches that I currently have and second, I am no longer willing to follow the ever increasing spiral of price increases imposed by the watch industry !!

Best,
Gerard

Great review Gerald. Which ones did you let go this year?

By: Chronometer (aka yacomino) : December 24th, 2022-15:34

I had a few that did not get enough wrist time ...

 By: jlux : December 24th, 2022-16:20
...for various reasons and then I also had a few too many of "covid-casual" watches in my collection: Blancpain Bathyscaphe ceramic blue dial Breitling Navitimer B01 previous generation Breitling SuperOcean Heritage GP Laureato blue dial Longines Spirit C...

I know what you mean! A few good one in there for sure!

I really enjoyed hearing of your 2022 timepiece adventure with all of them watches being just fantastic (I honestly love them all!)! Do you have a favourite? I am rather excited to hear how 2023 pans out for you. Wishing you a very merry Christmas!

I do not really have a favorite.

Judging on wrist time alone, maybe the Omega Chronoscope stands out a bit.

Many thanks,it sums up pretty well my watch interests.

Diversity first and then a "wild" mix of styles and horological content ...with always an eye on a reasonable price/quality ratio ...and good wearability on my wrist.

Diversity is tops!
