Horological Meandering

Hi all, I am a new member and I recently purchased an AP ROO Rubber clad. Personally I think it is a gorgeous time piece and surprisingly it is pretty light compared to the non rubber versions. However, although I love the watch I'm afraid it might be too...  

Congrats on your acquisition! Honestly, it is bigger than "average" but it is not TOO big in my opinion. A lot of watches wear bigger than that (eg PAMs). I think the ROO is suppoed to wear big anyway so it looks ok to me. But obviously it's how it feels ... 

... to this question, but now I'm not sure. And like many things in life, it's what's going on in your head rather than on your wrist thats most important. ;-) My rule of thumb is usually if the lugs hang over the edge of the wrist it's too big, but it's ...

I agree with Andrew regarding lug placement on the wrist, In your case, it is borderline, but still acceptable in my opinion. Comfort is key. If it feels comfortable and secure when you get the short strap, you should be all set. Wear it in good health. D... 

Watchismo, I'd suggest you try wearing it proximal to the bone on your wrist (i.e., closer to the elbow). For reasons that elude me, we see many postings of watches worn over the bone, where they are more likely to wobble and cause discomfort. Every time ... 

by pushing it back my wrist gained 1/4 inch. Can't wait to get the shorter strap. I think that will be the decision maker.

and once you get used to the size, you will have a hard time going back to smaller watches. A least that is my experience. Congratulations on this great purchase, wear in good health. Best regards, George

And if it is, it is supposed to be. Just as no one expect a small Cadillac, there cannot be small ROO, whatever our wishes are. Guess it's part of the ROO DNA. Don't fret about it, i used to, but have gotten used to it. If you think it looks huge and clow... 

Maybe give it one week or two to get used to with the size... I had the same experience with the first Panerai I bought about 3 years ago.. It has a 44mm case, and I thought it was huge... But I remembered it was only less than a month that I was used to ... 

that only important thing is what you think. So what do you think? Is it too big? If you doubt it obviously you are inclining towards yes answer.... There is no reason to worry especially not over what might other will say.... look he's wearing too big wa...

I fully second your remark, Christian! Our perception of size and wearability is definitely influenced by what the brands try to sell us: "Big is beautiful". Somehow I remembered that phrase differently . Although our wrists did hardly grow, the case size... 

Although I am not a big watch fan, I don't think purely as an "aesthetic" (if that term can even be applied to a watch such as this) matter it is too big. It is really a question of comfort and whether you will keep reaching for your (hypothetical) trusty...

Hi watchismo, I fully consent AndrewD´s general remarks on size, case shape and its different perception. But if you ask for an outsider´s opinion, I join all those who say, it´s too large (and bulky) for your wrist. If you like it despite ... 

It has quite an uncomfortable bracelet for smaller wrists. Maybe the ROC with a leather strap. As somebody said before, wear it for a while and you will judge it for yourself. I am in almost the same situation. 14790 and 15202 are the most comfortable Roy...
