The world has seen a significant amount of extreme weather events. Sea water in Florida is now over 100 degrees Fahrenheit, record high heat waves throughout the world, and more. Picturesque Switzerland does on occasion get extreme weather events, tornado...  

The death and major injuries is very tragic. The photos of the damage done to the region are just incredible.

Weather looks good in Italy though! The South is very warm and humid, but the North is mostly okay. We should be thankful for good weather. I remember not appreciating it enough when I was younger. And with this unfortunate news in Switzerland, I need to ... 

Indeed a very tragic event with a lot of personal tragedies. Weather is indeed crazy at the moment. We’re currently staying in our house in Italy and the thunderstorms have also been devastating in the region. We’ve been lucky with just some trees losing ... 

Indeed. Hopefully better times are ahead. However, it seems that the frequency of abnormally extreme weather is increasing. Regardless, stay safe.

We get them here quite a bit. They build structures for 150mph here, roof is internally strapped to the main structure, etc. Best wishes for a fast recovery.

Here in California, we get BIG EARTHQUAKES! We even have a major Soccer Club team called Earthquakes! But thankfully we generally do not get tornados nor hurricanes.

Fully agree with you on your tangent. Most of the life on this planet - not only humans - will face a very challenging future.

A lot of scientists say that if planet earth gets 2 degrees centigrade warmer, we may have massive problems that will be very difficult to recover from. Massive melting of the polar ice caps, rising sea levels, and a bunch of other problems. Well... India... 

We all drive large cars, many with very large engines. And we all turn on the air conditioner on a warm day. My air conditioner is currently not working correctly, so I'm not turning on the air conditioning. It's a large country too, so many of us have to...

Fortunately, most of the damage is not in a city, but in the countryside where there is less to destroy and thus injuries and deaths are relatively rare.

I can't say... I'm not an expert in weather. No court of law would consider me a qualified expert witness in weather. So my opinion isn't worth very much. People are however saying that the tornados in Switzerland seem to be significantly stronger than be... 

I see many heavy storms on TV. Back in 1984 i was in a very heavy storm and nobody talked about it. That storm back in 1984 i do not see on TV related to this era. When i see how buildings build today, it build to save money. When i see a very old cathedr... 

Air travel is very pollutive. Because the distances can be tremendous! Should we have a new law that limits how much people can travel by airplane? And if they exceed that they have to pay an environment tax? Airlines will probably lobby against that new ... 

Not the most sustainable way, but i keep the milages low. Airplanes i do not take, because my holiday destinations are not that far. For instance Austria, i can take the night train to Vienna.

I unfortunately do fly. And I probably create a lot of pollution when flying.

The question is, will we do anything about it? All of us need to change our lifestyle. We shouldn't say, let others do it, I'll keep to my old ways. If enough people think and do that, nothing will change. Which is what we are seeing today. I love travell... 

I didn't use the AC often enough in my home. Now I don't think it works correctly, probably from lack of use! In the future, I need to make sure I turn it on at least a few times a year, just so it won't break from total lack of use! Flying is public tran...

The scientists might not be completely right - but their estimates are better than the estimates from non scientists!

You meant predictions. Yes, even scientists (and fortune tellers) fail at those! For all we know, it won't be a cataclysm, just a moderate warming of the planet. (Our UN sec-gen has just called it 'global boiling'!)

Moderate warming upsets the balance. Imagine a rubber band that's a little loose. Some slight impacts to it, and it will vibrate slightly. But if the band is tense, it will vibrate more. Thus, the warmer things get, it's highly possible we will have more ... 

It requires an orchestrated effort. And what politician is going to agree to curbing his country's economic development and risk losing votes?

I am not a "climate doomer", as I think that a negative outlook on the future only serves the purpose of making us anxious and depressed. I believe that we will be able to get through this. So many technological advancements are being made in the field of... 

My analysis which is based on a lot of assumptions made by existing scientists tells me we're definitely not in a good place and things are likely to get worse! But back to watches! Hopefully our friends who work in the watch industry are able to recover ... 

I just think that it's crucial to maintain a positive attitude if we want to fix this problem.

Even if anthropogenic climate change results in more severe weather, the solution will not come from government programs or from unelected elites forcing ESG programs on private companies. Beware of people who drum up a crisis and then when people are emo... 

Let's try to avoid the overly politically charged conversations about government structures and socialism, etc. But to answer your question... Would I submit to a lockdown? If the whole world agreed to lock down, I guess I wouldn't have a choice! But what...

The building alone will take several months to repair. Then the interior of the building will need to be re-outfitted with all new tools. The tools and parts that are salvageable. But let's say the machines are not all salvageable and let's say the invent...

Hopefully there won't be too many delays on the permits. And hopefully the areas where the watch parts were stored (they're normally stored in these gigantic sorting machines) weren't damaged by the storm.
