If you HAVE to have a technical reason...

 

A manual movement is superior because it doesn't have the mechanical dynamic loads forced by the moving eccentric mass of the winding mechanism.

This could, arguably, be a case for the superiority of a manual wind movement over an auto - less complexity, less dynamic wear and stress.

These benefits, to me, fall into the "diminishing returns" range of the curve.
