I faced the same situation with my gold pieces..
and ultimately decided to sell them since they were spending most of the time in the watch box. Every time I get the urge to purchase another gold piece, I remember the fate of the previous gold brethren and manage to avoid pulling the trigger. If and when I have more money in the bank to spend on watches, I might reconsider my current "gold" position.
