I don't like...
...watches with dates generally, so calendar watches -- even the vaunted perpetual calendar, are not that interesting to me in terms of potential additions to my watchbox. There are very few perpetuals that catch my eye. My number one choice, if pocketbook allowed, would be the DeBethune DB26. The only other perpetual that captures my imagination is the 42mm UN GMT Perpetual. I love the oversize skeleton hands on that model, and the well-designed calendar functions on the watch.

...but Cazalea's new Seiko has a very cool dial. It's a repeating pattern that is reminiscent of carbon fiber, but is made up of the original Seiko quartz logo, I think. Cheers, Daos

. . . correct. Our Austrian watchmaker - who bears a resemblance to you, btw! - made the same observation. Perhaps Snak will have an opportunity to take a few images of the chronometer in its disassembled state for us.

... winding hand had indeed been replaced, having been done before my god friend purchased this in the late 60s. Given the historical nature of this fine timepiece, I would like to eventually find a correct hand for it.
