Horological Meandering

Have had 2x of both…

I’ve owned SBGE255 and SBGE275 from Grand Seiko.

Own a 2024 Rolex Datejust on jubilee with fluted bracelet in 36mm and had an older one before from the last gen with hidden clasp.

The Grand Seikos were definitely better made from the dial perspective and the SBGE275 movement was nice too. For example the hands and indices are usually strangely well done on GS. Personally though, I think the high polish zaratsu case finish is extremely overrated and kind of dumb for a sports watch.

BUT where rolex wins and is unbeatable is the overall package of having a reasonably sized watch with generally good workmanship and an EXCELLENT bracelet + movement. Not to mention it’s very easy to get a rolex serviced VS a spring drive GS.

I ended up selling both of my GS due to the thickness.
