Green dial watches : too trendy...or here to stay?

Sep 29, 2024,12:18 PM

I guess they are here to stay as the brands have learned to use the various shades of the color green to produce some very attractive watches.

As it happens,I have accumulated a few green dial watches into my collection over the last years and each one has a different personality....and type of green.

You want green ?
Then there is the all green ceramic GP Laureato with its "Aston Martin green" : in real life more subtle than pictures would suggest!

The Breitling Top Time Mustang "Capsule" : a vivid metallic green inspired by car painting.

Nomos calls this color "petrol" : a good description for this green color with a hint of blue.

Green, diver and bronze : a very attractive combination for me.
And the Rado Capt'n Cook is for me one of the best vintage inspired divers out there !!

Green is the color associated with Rolex : this olive green DD 40 is a very elegant interpretation of the color green.

And the "Forest green" color of the Chopard LUC XPS is classy and versatile at the same time.

So how about you?
What green dial color watches do you have ?

Best,
Gerard

...but I'm banking on purple becoming the next big thing! I'm on the road though so I can't post an overview of all my purple watches.... EDIT, sorry that is silly, of course I have a green watch, I just posted about it this week, but it was just returned...

Nice thread, dear Gerard!

I think whether green stays or not depends mainly on personal taste. The trend doesn't matter if you personally like it. Personally, I find the olive green of the Rolex Day Date absolutely timeless and goes with everything. That's why this watch was my fi...

I have no green watch as of today…

I always found them too fancy somehow. However, the only one I would gladly possess, is the one you have! 👍🏻😍 So it really depends on the “green”…

I think that green will continue to be around.

Nevertheless, the "green hype" and "me too green" of the manufacturers will calm down to some degree, I assume, they will launch other colors to try (yellow, purple, red?), as they did when they launched salmon dials a few years ago. IMO, the manufacurers...

Spectacular selection Gerard!

Thoughtfully curated as well I might add. I never “got” the green thing until this year , when I added Sinn 556. Which is very attractive to me. I believe it’s more than a trend, and think it’s here to stay. Although less “classic” than blue if you will. ...

The Sinn is really nice.

Same as you, I was not convinced by the SeaQ kind of green when I saw the watch.

It is my friend

Will have to see it in the metal first though. Hoping it’s a more convincing shade of green. The GO SeaQ wasn’t when I saw it with my own eyes!

We can only speculate until we see it with our own eyes

I went to a local Longines AD last week, sadly they didn’t have any of the new colors in yet…

A pic is worth 1000 words, but seeing is believing!

Years ago, I would make the mistake of buying without trying, even on higher priced watches. There are so many variables to online pics, light, image quality, screen output… Its crazy how different they can look in the metal! Yes, the emerald Sinn and GO ...

Green is good 💚

Hi Always good to have a variety of colours, hopefully green will stay, along with blue & orange. Asadds to the vibrancy of a watch & it's always good to have options. Cheers JML
