I get it I guess,

but have one question. Why does a 5 year old need a watch in the pool? It's not like they are going to look at the time and say "it's 3:00, I need to leave for my doctors appointment".
Granted :)

Point well taken.

Plus she'll be able to tell time on an analog watch, most kids can't do that today as they've all be raised with digital watches and clocks.
Part of the point, too :)

She has several watches already and the interest is there - not all the time but on and off it is
I think a Rolex Submariner will do the trick.

She likes cars, too, am I right? On the big day, have the Rolex around the shifter of a new Lotus (any model, British racing green, naturally). And on the passenger's seat? A bottle of aged scotch, you have plenty of time to come up with something special...
My 5 y.o. adopted my Timex Bayman

It is cheap, fun, tough, and it’s purchase price goes to a non profit environmental group here in the US. Son loves the Indiglo feature, and while big at 43, it is light and comfortable. ...
Thanks for the idea, John :)

Although with her slender wrists 43 may be quite a stretch... But like it quite a bit on all other points
My son is almost 5

I gave him a swatch with Arabic numbers on the dial. He has learned the numbers and so far he is only using the “small” hand. He knows he will be picked up from kindergarten at “4” and he also can say if it is “between 4 and 5”. The other day he scolded h...
Like the Swatch idea...
By: KMII : August 16th, 2018-11:19
I guess there must be some that are adequately water proof?
I got him this one
By: ChristianDK : August 18th, 2018-03:48
It’s 3 bar waterproof and absolutely fine for a dive I a pool. This one is the small ladies model (24 mm) and is a good fit. It gets banged around and left in the garden sometimes. The crystal is completely scratched from being skewed across our tile floo...
That’s a great idea!

Will need to check what strikes her fancy but good advice on the Arabic numerals. Will let you know what it is when I get it
Easy answer!

Swatch.

Anything under € 40,00. With batteries. And was machine proof.
Wash machine proof is certainly a bonus :)

She has two FlikFlaks and a Fortis Mini Flipper. While the latter is technically a swim type watch, even in its NOS state I am reluctant for her to wear it around water 50 years later
Serious answer
By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : August 15th, 2018-13:35
She's 5, the flik flak line is perfect and can stand a dip. This is the best and you should get it for her. Not bad either ...
She has two FlikFlaks and likes them...
By: KMII : August 16th, 2018-11:24
But I felt those would hardly stand more than a splash of water, i.e. washing hands. Need to check again, though - certainly a good avenue...
I second the idea of a Flik Flak.
By: maxmanzo : August 16th, 2018-00:18
While it's lovely to share our passion with our kids, your pricess is only 5 and she could 1. crash it, 2. being annoyed by mechanical movement's idiosyncrasies, 3. loose interest in watches. After some years, if she really likes the horo-world, she will ...
Thanks for the advice, Max...
By: KMII : August 16th, 2018-11:27
You are right, at the moment the interest is intermittent at best. But I try to encourage it, when she’s the one initiating the topic. Need to see if there are any waterproof FlikFlaks - she likes those quite a bit. Thanks again for sharing your experienc...
Will do, Max!

As soon as the selected watch is here
I am fully with you, Abel!
By: KMII : August 16th, 2018-23:08
It should not be something stopping her from play But your suggestions are excellent nevertheless - especially the 28mm model. Wasn’t aware of that one There’s also a 35mm Doxa Sub that’s a proper dive watch, if you want another couples watch for your wif...
Thank you so much, Abel!
By: KMII : August 17th, 2018-10:31
Still got some months to go and will definitely let you know what I get. Likewise would be curious what you think of the Doxa
