I can see and appreciate how a framed date window makes the overall design more coherent, as it matches the silver indices, for example. However, for someone who prefers no date, on a watch that must have one, I’d prefer they call less attention to it. Which is why my preference is for unframed date windows. For example, when a date box has a black square around it, it’s not ideal for me. I owned that very GP Laureato 38 mm blue you have illustrated, one of my favorite parts was that it DIDNT have a date frame. Looking at my Omega SMP 300, again, I tolerate the date because it doesn’t have a frame (and the rest of the watch is great). No right or wrong, just my opinion.
