but I am one who often compares apples and oranges (for the record, I prefer bananas! ) I have discovered one thing during my first 6 weeks of retirement. I seem to be terribly busy doing absolutely nothing but perhaps I am spending more time on this site...
Those are still fruits...your selection is rather like apples and...I don't know, sushi! I get you totally, I do not often pursue a theme, there are just random watches I like and there is a moment when need to choose one. If I was given the choice I woul...
I love sushi Alex!! Thanks for your choice. I actually asked three of my friends and the Rolex received two votes and the Jaeger one. But they are non watch collectors so I am wondering if the experts have a different view
And I tried very hard to like it but I think I have a mental block when it comes to watches with bracelets! That is the only way I can explain how a leather strap on a rose gold Daytona can win my heart
Rolex was never a dress watch manufcturer but if you are looking into a Rolex dress watch, then the new Cellini line is worth it. They make also some nice complications In the past Rolex had a watch with full calendar with a moonphase, it is the rare 606...
However my opinion is always the same: Rolex is too inflated so look around... and you will find for example the wonderful reverso you posted. It, for me, very much wearable and the moon phase gives a touch of romanticism to the watch. Go for it! Best.
PP5170G and you did not vote for the Patek??!!! Just kidding, thanks for the vote and yes, I think the leather strap on the Rolex redefines the Daytona!!
The Patek is lovely but too small-for me. So, isn't the Daytona out of your comfort zone? Having met you I believe you can wear bigger watches than you choose, but why are you considering "going big" with a Rolex, and not a Patek?
that I have tried on the Patek 5712 nautilus as I like the complications in it but the watch looked awkward in my eyes on my wrist. Perhaps it was the shape of the case, perhaps it was the bracelet. It is also quite interesting that a steel Daytona with a...
Thia version in WG is the older smaller size one, the new L size is available in Steel. I have this watch for 15 years, and still loving it. The Daytona, for me, this has to be in bracelet. I am not a fan of the Everose, and I himbly opine there are bette...
I have purchased 5 new Lange watches in 4 years but unfortunately have not kept any of them as they do no talk to me not to mention the various issues with weight (1815 chrono) and 150 plus turns required to wind an 1815 up and down. I am not really looki...
Sorry to hear about your Lange experience. The JLC is the smaller WG one from 15 years ago. It doesn't really wrap around the wrist, naturally depending on size, as well as say the Calatravas. But the Rolex would be worse!!! Best, Horo
but I need to try on a 42mm long Jaeger to see how the watch fits on my wrist. I realise it is the 'smaller' one from 15 years ago but 'smaller' might still be too large for me because I have never been comfortable with any of the previous complicated Rev...
A close mate of mine has about 25 of them, and counting!!! I will show you a beautiful Reverso Repeater soon, and it's super stealth! Best and good luck with your hunt Horo
but in my eyes, anyone with more than four reversos would be a big time collector! I am wondering if your repeater is one of the 500 issued in the 90s in rose gold. I heard from a dealer that the sound was not the best but I did not get an opportunity to ...
Well put and I need to try on a 42mm long Jaeger to see if it fits my wrist well. It is quite interesting that a Patek for once has proved the unpopular choice
I was wondering who be the first to notice this of the Patek and you are! I share similar sentiments. I see it as a classic and in many ways the safe bet among the three watches. Perhaps a little plain and conservative but I love it for precisely those re...
The dial on the Reverso is definitely the most captivating of the three and this is an important factor I feel when choosing a watch. I await to try on a similar watch next week at the Jaeger boutique to get an idea on how well it will fit my wrist. Thank...
To me what always comes first is lifestyle suitability factor. How much wristtime would a piece get. That to me is an evolving process as lifestyles tend to change as we (like a quality red wine) mature as the years go by. A watch I personally find appeal...
All three watches are winners in their own right. I have tried the oyster flex bracelet but still prefer the leather strap. As you say, it is down to one's lifestyle and as sporty as I am, I would never a watch while playing squash or swimming. I would on...
for making my complex life even more complex!! Hopefully the next time we meet, I will have the Jaeger on my wrist. If not, well, maybe it was meant for you all along!
There's a far more rare Patek with 215, a special Harrords in RG that is so under the radar few know about it. Only 35 made, enjoyed mine for years. Seems little love for that Everose Daytona on leather. Have it here and a few have mistaken it for a Patek...
And like you I as one of the 35 lucky owners. It is one of the watches I wish I had kept! That 'plastic' band is actually scratch resistant ceramic which I personally find most appealing So which of the above three would you choose?!
If i may ask, which # did you have. My NYC friend's wife had one she also got direct from Harrods too, yet forget which # she had. Of the above, the Rolex as it is different enough that i have yet to see someone else wear one. Admired the Rerverso and ALM...
but I too cannot remember what number my Harrods watch was. This is the price of having owned far too many watches! I bought the 3923 from the Patek boutique in Harrods(in fact I had bought the first watch they ever sold - a Pagoda on 1 December 1997!) Su...
RD production have been as your emoji states. 27 or 28, forget which as well. Wearability, yes, and again why i point to the Rolex. The Reverso would be second.
I will vote for the Reverso or the Patek. Definitely not the Rolex. Since you are newly retired, your time will be spent with new orders You will want something for you to reflect on. Both the Reverso and the Patek is a good choice, depending if you want ...
I like the way you are so sure that the Rolex is a no go unlike many of the other replies! The Patek is a manual watch. I too would not entertain an automatic Patek as I have two in my collection. A third one would be an overkill unless it was a minute re...
in my heart, based on your 3 choices, I will go with the Reverso in a heartbeat. It is true poetic and will allow you to enjoy every second of every day
