Horological Meandering

Cutting back

...is actually something I am working on right now in anticipation of one committed incoming watch and two other possible near-term acquisitions (sigh -- when will I learn?).  If those were in play (I am leaving them out for now) this list might change quite a bit!

My "core" collection of contemporary watches, having been pared down a couple of times over the years, only sits at about 20 in number right now (I'm leaving out things like my Grandfather's watches and random low-end pieces that are fun to own but not of appreciable value).  So, the discipline is to get down to 5:

1.  Dufour Simplicity, WG 37mm with lacquer dial

2.  A. Lange und Söhne Double Split, PT

3.  Vianney Halter Antiqua, RG/PT

4.  Voutilainen Observatoire, RG

5.  Voutilainen Masterpiece Chronograph II, RG

Indies and Lange -- perhaps not too surprising!  Not making the cut on this tough exercise are some great watches, including but not limited to:

1.  AP Equation of Time in WG

2.  Lange Datograph in RG

3.  Speake-Marin "Fighting Time" unique piece in PT

4.  My entire JLC collection, including an original Geographique and a Reverso minute repeater

5.  VC Malte Squelette in WG

6.  ...and so on!

Suffice it to say that as I've been pondering what to keep and what to sell in pursuit of other big game it has not (and still is not) an easy process!

Best,

Gary G
