Collecting with a plan
I start a few years ago with a plan in collecting watches.
My direction is purpose.
A work watch. For rough work like painting a wall or clicking a wooden floor in a house.
A special occasion watch to wear on anniversaries, weddings etc.
A water resistant master dive watch for swimming, beach, boating, eat an ananas at a beach bar.
A daily beater for wear everywhere.
That circle i completed.
Next step is to go for a complication watch. In my main collection i have watches with complications, dates.
But i mean more that a simple date, like a moon phase, annual calendar, power reserve gauge.
Found already which watch wil be the fifth in my collection.
Reading this, i told nothing about metals. But my collection do not contain a watch with an enamel dial or a grand feu.
I wil look first on the dial and after that i can consider case materials.
Vintage and pre owned.
Some ideas i have, but difficult to find that i like.
Only one i want, and it is the sport to find it. A Piaget from the seventies. A two hands watch, the case is a cushion shape. I regret that i do not bid on it, it was a chance to get a rare bird that looks just perfect in my eyes.

Not everyone may know that this model, ref. 5088P, is a discontinued limited edition, even more sought after than the (already rare) ref. 5088/100P, which is technically still available in Patek's catalog Enjoy! ;-)

Each piece a standalone gem. The skeleton work on the 3878j is outstanding! That’s the kind of skeleton I prefer in watchmaking tbh. The new modern styles don’t hold a candle imho. Enjoy, H.

Thank you for noticing the impeccable work on the skeleton. It leaves nothing to the imagination and I am just fortunate that the VVIP who had commissioned the watch 20 years after it was discontinued decided not to collect the watch.
To sell the Pateks in particular
like the 5212A, 7234A, 5940G and 1530A was a tough decision to make but I wanted to keep simple time only watches that were not just elegant and classy but also easier to maintain in the long run.
