Another reason I am turned off by Rolex as well..
I hate buying ANYTHING at retail value... always look for a bargain especially on luxury items... and with Rolex unless you can get from the AD which most times won't give you a discount it is not worth it in my opinion no matter what I could resell the piece for... The new Pepsi GMT for example is 9700 watch that people are selling for over 17K... who would buy something that is almost double the retail value??... makes no sense to me...Truly one day I would love to own a vintage Daytona, an Explorer II Polar and my Rolex grail is the Platinum Presidential with Ice Blue Dial... But I would not want to pay even retail for any of them...

These Gray dealers are all over the IG and C24. And if you look at their stock for a while, you can see that they don't shift none of their stock of Rolex. Nobody buys them at this prices

No doubt. And the Rolex surely has the most demand from a population base perspective.
My point is that Iām not sure that the disgust lies with the brand itself. Iām also not denying that people avoid Rolex by the sheer fact that secondary market practices are associated with their watches despite it not being a direct result of the company...

Discount days are counted
Especially within this industry when more and more brands are going with boutique only while eliminating AD's. Even AD's are tightening their belts and selling at retail. That's why the pre-owned market is getting hotter by the day.
i wouldn't buy a ceramic version
Known issues are that the ceramic falls off. Yet to see any Swiss makers perfecting a perfect ceramic bezel unbonded to steel. The aluminium insert 16610LV is still the best.
