Thanks for sharing! 👍🏻 Like you, I enjoy watches due to the way they look and wear on my wrist. Not much more. I can’t site back catalogues, vast ocean of reference numbers, movements, the technicalities of watchmaking and certainly don’t have a hundred thousand dollars to spend on watches. I’m just a simple enthusiast. If it’s been a few months with no wrist time, or I find myself forcing the watch onto my wrist to try and justify keeping it - It’s gone. I never understood the whole, buy an expensive watch (or a few) and let them sit in the bank deposit box thing. 15 years ago, and many times in between, I’ve told myself, this is a keeper, it will never go. Interestingly , part of my journey apparently is to try as many watches as possible. If I don’t bond with it, it can always be sold or traded for close to what I paid for it. I’ve learned I gravitate towards divers, dislike complications, avoid date modules when possible, don’t do chronographs or GMT’s (because I never use the complications), and my daily lifestyle is far too casual for any kind of dress watches. The ones I’ve sold / traded (about 100), most popular reasons: 1) Case is too big or too thick and doesn’t fit properly on my 7 inch wrist, 2) Dial is too busy, 3) Annoying date module 4) Complications that I pay for but never use 5) Too boring, with no soul, charm or evoking emotion 6) Doesn’t get worn 7) Can’t justify the insane price. I won’t go into every one I’ve parted with, but you get the idea. Now I’m left with Tudor BB58 blue, Longines Legend Diver 39 mm green, Laco Ulm 39 mm and Omega AT 8800, 38 mm teak dial green. The ones I miss most, sometimes I realize I’ve made a mistake and reacquire. That actually happens more to me than one might think! Currently chasing 39.5 mm GO SeaQ in green again , would take it on SS bracelet, but prefer on GO textile grey strap - Which is superb! Now THAT piece evokes all the right kind of emotions for me. In my journey, even more important than the ones I’m left with, are the ones I’ve parted with and why. Which makes your thread a very timely post. It’s a learning experience as we acquire different tastes and find what we love. I’d say all here is fair game, much of which I can identify with. It’s all part of the journey! 🍻
