Horological Meandering

...not so sure..

Look at the prices many beautifully engraved English pocket watches go for.  These were examples of haute horlogerie with hand engraved balance wheel covers, screwed chatons, enamel dials.  Amazing hand craft but not very desirable to the majority of collectors.

Rolex are a great example of this.  Collectors go mental for colour variations of a relatively modern Submariner but cold for the truly vintage creations of Hans Wilsdorf.

Having said all that I think that you'll find MB&F and Urwerk leading the pack due to their inventiveness.  In 40 years time we'll potentially have hundreds of thousands (millions?)  of Pateks, Vacherons, Breitlings Rolex etc coming up in estate sales vastly increasing the availability of Haute Horlogerie at a discount price.
