La Lagune 08
By: Jp75 : September 12th, 2021-18:12
Going myself for La Lagune 2008 - drinking nicely with notes of tobacco and blackcurrant / cassis. How was the Montrose 90? Looking at the picture of the pouring in the glasses, it seems to have been fresh and not having too much of this brick color that ...

Thanks for sharing with me that photo of your 08 La Lagune. The 90 Montrose was drinking very well. The color was predominantly medium garnet core that faded towards a brick red rim. Acid remained fresh (quite spectacular) with medium alcohol and tannins ...
Intriguing

Thanks for the very details tasting notes - very intriguing, especially the long and multilayered after-taste. I am slowly developing an affinity for older wines, even though I like so much the freshness and (tannic) structure of younger clarets - especia...

Sounds like great pairing over there I honestly enjoy having a glass of white with fish…it’s a lovely, refreshing alternative to the usual red meat and rouge pairings. Best Gatsby
Ahh my dear friend :-)

Nice to hear from you. For me I would rather cellar away the Bordeaux wines for a good 2 decades… for me the “heft” of its blend needs time so it could soften up. I really love old Bordeaux, even though Burgundy is very much in vogue these days. Am hearin...
Lovely wine....what a treat!

My personal favourite Montrose is the '82 which was drinikng well years ago.
Never tried that vintage :-)
By: Mr.Gatsby : September 13th, 2021-15:29
But 82 is stellar, and I’m assuming very approachable as we currently speak. Best Gatsby
Yes,
By: halkcb : September 14th, 2021-01:17
you can't go wrong with '82s,unless they're corked Unfortunately,no more '82 Montrose left, but other clarets like '89 and your '90,apart from the first growths, are very approachable now. Best henry
Fully agree Henry

My experience with Bordeaux dictates that all 3 vintages (82,89,90) are fantastic. But the vintage for me that tops it all is the 90 — for most producers anyway. Haut Brion, Margaux, Lynch Bages, Palmer, Las Cases etc. 90 just tops it slightly above the 8...
