Real, sweet malt taste

From my own experience, I taste sweet malt only in peated whisky and never in unpeated ones. Does anybody know why? I don't think the yeast that is used for fermentation is creating the malt taste, as I assume that the distilleries are using their own, di...

Oh yes, they empty quickly! πŸ˜‰

Do you taste a strong malt note, too?

Yea for sure

Yes, more alcohol and more punch.

Is it the cask finishing ?

I know that Bowmore and it is a great buy for that money. Better value than a Lagavulin Destillers Edition. I don't think it is the cask finishing. Peated whiskies receive also a finish in ex- bourbon casks, like unpeated ones.

This is not my favorite. Too peated (smoky) for me!

I prefer the softer Macallan! There is enough booze here to kill someone! Our PuristS enjoyed a wonderful dinner with Jaeger-LeCoultre in Le Sentier and at the end we broke open a bar of chocolate and a bottle of The Macallan. While we are on the subject ...

I haven't tried Macallan yet, to my shame.

Still struggling with the premium for it and wonder if it is worth it? πŸ€” But one day, I will try it. πŸ₯ƒπŸ₯ƒ

It's good!

Don't go for the Macallan 18 Sherry Oak. Which used to be my favorite. But now it's gotten too expensive. Go for the riskier but still fun to drink bottles that are less expensive. The ones at the airport are all "easy to drink" and still very enjoyable.

The Macallan 18 Sherry Oak has entered the chat…
