I’ve often thought of adding a perpetual calendar to my collection. But I’m bothered by the fact that most PC’s lack a seconds function that I find essential in a wristwatch. I’ve been slightly tempted by the PP 5320, though I’m far from sold on the overall aesthetic of the watch. The next FPJ model I aspire to is the Chronometre Optimum. But it would easily switch to the QP if the ever-innovative Monsieur Journe could find a way to tackle the challenge of adding a seconds function to this beautiful timepiece. And while I find this new dial design very appealing in a slightly more modern way, I do miss the trademark dial-side screws and plate.
I would be very appreciative if some of the more knowledgeable members of this forum would kindly explain why there aren’t many PC’s with a second hand or seconds subdial. Thanks!

I like this version...
...but the day and month apertures are too low on the dial. The old version had the same problem but the design did a better job of hiding it.
I think you have a very good point on the aperture. I dont feel it was ever a problem on the old one, but is a bit in the new
Its interesting how small details can change the perception. I almost think it is a different movement, which it obviesly isnt.

I believe the chunky frame in the apertures for the new variant accentuates how the upper bank is closer to midline than the lower. The raised leap indicator doesn't help in that regard.

Yes a PCC is unlikely as FP doesn’t like to mix complications since they will compromise the Chronometric performance
The exception being the Astronomic, obviously 😉

Its a watch we dont see much here. I understand what you say about legibility. I could be a bit concerned about that for the silver dial. But as you say, we need to see the real thing. Thanks for chiming in.

I was quite surprised by this update. Im wondering if FP felt it was needed to sell it or what his motief was. I cas see your point on the date being a bit Lange, as well as the strict symmetry may add to that "classical" feeling.

The old boutique editions had red Gold case amd Black dial
They did not have the same restriction policy on them. Like you mention. However, when you talk to staff, so few where produced that they are very limited in numbers.
