but I was always wowed by it when I checked it at boutiques. The dial presentation was very different from everything else in the dress watch FPJ collection. The new version looks closer, in design, to the CS and that line of dress watches from FPJ. In real life, and from far, you wouldn’t differentiate it from that line

A new dial for the Quantième Perpétuel with Gold applied numerals and apertures.

 By: ChristianDK : May 4th, 2020-11:52
A new dial for the Quantième Perpétuel has been announced I think the new dial looks more modern and lighter than the previous which, I btw, also quite like. I love the rhodium plated hands and the applied numerals. Our very own cmmnsens recently posted s...

I personally love the new QP dial and case

By: Mohannad (aka Riddler) : May 4th, 2020-11:55
I prefer it to the older models Thanks Christian

Interesting you ike both as well

 By: ChristianDK : May 4th, 2020-12:19
Im on the fence I could mix them, I would take the applied numerals on to the old dial Thanks MO

I like this version...

 By: mdg : May 4th, 2020-11:58
...but the day and month apertures are too low on the dial. The old version had the same problem but the design did a better job of hiding it.

I think you have a very good point on the aperture. I dont feel it was ever a problem on the old one, but is a bit in the new

 By: ChristianDK : May 4th, 2020-12:22
Its interesting how small details can change the perception. I almost think it is a different movement, which it obviesly isnt.

Good observation

 By: TeutonicCarFan : May 4th, 2020-14:43
I believe the chunky frame in the apertures for the new variant accentuates how the upper bank is closer to midline than the lower. The raised leap indicator doesn't help in that regard.

Interesting

Exactly the same comments I told my boutique guy when I saw the new one!!!

Old clover on the dial

 By: dustin.wu : May 5th, 2020-18:33
I believe the old clover shape is to hide and compromise the fact that the two window being lower than their optimized positions due to mechanical limitation. It’s not for everyone but it does work. The circle is more classic but then the windows issue sh...

I think it has always been given respect by the FPJ collectors

 By: ChristianDK : May 4th, 2020-12:35
It is the first PC watch to have an instant change calendar. This can seem like an insignificant detail but required a huge technical effort and a lot of research. It is also one of the most difficult watches in the entire FPJ collection to build as it ha...

I respect it greatly, just something keeps stopping me from pulling the trigger...

 By: IndieFan : May 4th, 2020-18:25
Like you said Christian, there are many other brands that are more renowned for their PCs, and I also find the "day month" on the new version too low as others have said, and it's much more noticeable on this version. I really want to own a FPJ perpetual ...

I tried not to push it too far by asking him for a PC Split Seconds Chrono :)

 By: IndieFan : May 7th, 2020-03:25
That would be my ideal next FP Journe release! Need to keep requesting the Split Seconds in the "Classic" range

Haha!

 By: ChristianDK : May 7th, 2020-04:37
I asked him about the Split in the classic range. I tried to convince him by saying that there is no chronograph in that collection currently and he needed that. His answer was typical FP style. “NO NEVER! And I don’t need a chronograph in the classic ran...

I really do as well :-) [nt]

I fell in love with the blue QP when I saw it in the metal

 By: cmmnsens : May 4th, 2020-12:41
But I can imagine I'd probably want the new version with silver dial as it will be more timeless long term.

Agree. One needs to be a bit careful with all these blue dials.

 By: ChristianDK : May 4th, 2020-13:48
I suppose the silver for the long run. Less obvious but also more versatile. You didnt feel it was "too cold" without any contrast?

I haven’t seen the silver ones in the metal

 By: cmmnsens : May 4th, 2020-14:15
But just imagine a CS version QP and kinda have a good feel for what to expect.

Lots to think about...

 By: Cpt Scarlet : May 4th, 2020-12:41
Thanks for posting this Christian. I always reserve judgment until I have viewed the piece in the real world. My initial impression is that the watch is best summed up with the overriding impression of “quality”. The rhodium plated hands make for a change...

I am very intrigued by the new QP

 By: NML77 : May 4th, 2020-13:11
I can’t wait to see it in person as I have found that pictures do not do the watches justice. I owned the old model but never got completely comfortable with the clover design but that is just a personal aesthetic preference. I appreciate the instant chan...

Interesting to hear from a previou owner.

 By: ChristianDK : May 4th, 2020-13:54
Its a watch we dont see much here. I understand what you say about legibility. I could be a bit concerned about that for the silver dial. But as you say, we need to see the real thing. Thanks for chiming in.

Agree - always see a watch before evaluation

 By: ChristianDK : May 4th, 2020-13:51
I was quite surprised by this update. Im wondering if FP felt it was needed to sell it or what his motief was. I cas see your point on the date being a bit Lange, as well as the strict symmetry may add to that "classical" feeling.

I’ve often thought of adding a perpetual calendar to my collection. But I’m bothered by the fact that most PC’s lack a seconds function that I find essential in a wristwatch. I’ve been slightly tempted by the PP 5320, though I’m far from sold on the overa...

My Pleasure :-)

 By: ChristianDK : May 4th, 2020-14:44
Have you looked at the H.Moser & Cie. Endeavour Perpetual Calendar. It has an amazing dial and is one of my favorite PCs. I suppose th eanswer to your question is that most PCs hav very busy dials with a lot of information, so to make the PC readable the ...

But...

 By: BigAppleBill : May 4th, 2020-16:41
...there are plenty of perpetual calendar chronographs. Why would a second hand on a simple PC be considered too busy, while a PC chronograph is rather common? Thanks for trying to help figure this out. I’ve seen the Moser Endeavour PC. While the month in...

Personally I really like the new dial layout...

By: Chronometer (aka yacomino) : May 4th, 2020-15:23
I don’t own any FPJ but the new layout make me want to own one!

I really like these changes.

 By: Jay (Eire) : May 4th, 2020-18:58
Overall I think it’s an improved design (Dial) and to me more coherently Journe. I understand some have an issue with the thickness of the framing of the date windows, perhaps it’s amplified by the press photos and not so jarring in the metal. It’s also m...

I like the new one a lot esp the silver one

 By: Tlph : May 4th, 2020-19:08
The first time I saw the pics of older version I was like “meh” - the dial looked a bit weird but then I saw the video and amazed by its function and then the dial looked so much better 😂 then the new ones were announced! I was immediately sold to the sli...

I think if I was to put my own money on this watch

 By: ChristianDK : May 5th, 2020-02:35
I would choose the pt with silver dial - in the end. It will certainly be interesting to handle these pieces.

My thoughts

 By: stabilizer : May 5th, 2020-09:19
Thank you for sharing here. I really enjoy these discussions. I have always thought that the juxtaposition of the oval shape within the dial, within the circular shape of the dial and case, is very cool. This results in the smaller 3 and 9 numerals, which...

Yes, I love them as well. They open the eyes to other ways of seeing. And Let’s please ot have a consensus here of what is the best one....

 By: ChristianDK : May 5th, 2020-14:17
I love that each member finds his own approach I am fond of the oval as Well. I find it very FPJ. Howver, i also Think There is something a lbit too static amd symmetric about that composition. The black print also looks a bit dull compared to the new num...

When you say boutique edition......

 By: YSC : May 6th, 2020-18:39
Is it like the black label, with each boutique getting max 2 per year?

The old boutique editions had red Gold case amd Black dial

 By: ChristianDK : May 6th, 2020-21:29
They did not have the same restriction policy on them. Like you mention. However, when you talk to staff, so few where produced that they are very limited in numbers.

It took a minute, but I just secured an allocation for this watch.

 By: Swaye : June 8th, 2020-11:35
2021 build date. 40mm blue dial in platinum. Miami Boutique was easy to work with as always. I perhaps should not have said allocation, as this isn't an allocation piece (I don't think). More like a "get in line" piece. At any rate, putting the deposit do...

Way to go! Congratulations. You certainly have something to look forward to now.

 By: ChristianDK : June 8th, 2020-21:27
I suppose production has been delayed Somewhat since they build it next year. We all share your excitement!

Thanks buddy!

 By: Swaye : June 9th, 2020-02:33
I don't think production has been delayed so much as they are very limited and there is already a line. But yes, I do have something to look forward to!

Yes Im working on a post.
