Over the years, there have been a handful of special, highly limited versions of the Patek 5970 — rose gold with black dial, white gold with salmon dial, and likely a few others. But the “standard” versions are wonderful in their own right. To me, the 5970 is perhaps the perfect classic watch: big enough, but not too big; ample complication while remaining very legible; sculpted lugs without being overdone; etc. (This is not intended to disparage the 3970, which is also wonderful.)
Here are the four standard versions—platinum, rose, yellow, and white. Curious to hear which one is everyone’s favorite. For me, the platinum is stealthy cool, but the white gold is supremely versatile. So, impossible to choose!
