Patek Philippe

3970 Chrono seconds hand Question.

Based on some of the very recent postings of 3970 images, I noticed that some 3970 versions have chorono seconds hand with a bulbous bottom that blocks the date at 31 when chrono is not on (which is the normal mode). Most 3970s seem to have the slender chrono seconds hand bottom that minimally blocks the date which also is the case in the Patek books. Personally I prefer the slender style.

Is this variation in the chrono seconds hand shape also is part of the "series" that is being discussed, just like the solid metal vs the sapphire exposition back, snap on vs screwed on back and the shape of the minute/hour hands ? In more recent 5970 models, it seems that only the bulbous chrono seconds hand is used, which blocks the 31st.

Or the 3970 models with bulbous chrono seconds hands were simply the result of mixup at Patek during assembly.

 Appreciate your feed back.

Cheers and thanks

Jim
